Sinful Sunday: You can't handle defeat?
In games it's something you can't escape, becomes sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But also offline you will have moments in your life where you will lose. Maybe you didn't get the job you wanted, didn't win the lottery or maybe the person you voted for didn't win the elections. It's rough but losing is a part of life, because if you would win all the time then your life would be boring. That might sound crazy but you will just have to trust me on that.
Why would you accept defeat?
The simple answer is that if you don't then you will feel miserable for a long time. Because as long as you hold on to your disappointment and anger you will never move on and so you can't heal and learn to live with what happened. As frustrated as you might be it's important that you don't let anger control you, because then you have truly lost. Instead you stay strong and accept defeat and hope that things go better next time, that makes you stronger and help you get through this difficult time faster. This is difficult for some people and I don't blame them, it's much easier to be outraged and disappointed than to accept what just happened. But you can't keep going on with your anger and disappointment because life will go on and so must you. If you focus too much and too long on one thing then life will pass you by. You don't want to be that person that lost sight of things because you were too focused on one thing.
How do you handle defeat?
As my father would say like a man! But I guess that doesn't apply to everyone. My advice is to focus on the good things in your life, sure you might feel bitter now but things will get better. Find comfort in the arms of family and friends, let them be a shoulder you can lean on and eventually you will be able to heal and move on. Some people need more time than others but don't let that stop you from asking for help, because if you're alone then things are that much harder and more difficult to deal with. The thing is that you can't escape defeat, we all lose at one point in our lives and that is something you can't avoid. What also helps are distractions, do things that make you happy or that just keep you busy. That keeps your mind off what just happened and hopefully will eventually help you to move on. It sucks when you lose but don't let it get to you, because maybe next time you win and that is something to look forward to. The world doesn't end in defeat, only if you let it.
