Campers are like a disease in games?
Let me immediately say that I mean no disrespect for people that have lost people to deadly disease or people that have a deadly disease. But I think of no better way to explain how much damage campers do in a game and how they completely ruin a game or game mode. Maybe some would think that I'm being too harsh, I must be overreacting because how could anyone be that bad? Well maybe I can explain this to you...
Why are campers a bad thing for a game and the people that play that game?
Because campers suck out the fun of a game, not only because they completely take the speed out of a game (you would have to check every corner before you can move up) but also it's frustrating that some lazy asshole keeps getting kills and then talks shit as if he or she is amazing at the game. I don't know about you but this is something a lot of people don't like and I'm putting that mildly! So people stop playing that game or that game mode that has a lot of campers in it. Because if you're not having fun playing a game or game mode then what's the point of playing it? So in a way campers are killing the game or game mode, which makes them in a way as bad as a deadly disease. Eventhough not every disease has to be fatal it's a terrible thing and I don't think anyone would be ok with having a deadly disease, so why would it be ok to have campers in a game?
Why do campers get so much hate?
If you have to ask that then clearly you have never had to deal with an annoying camper. Yes I'm talking about that guy or girl that keeps going to a certain spot on the map to get some quick and easy kills, that will always be in a corner and ready to shoot in your back, that will get the most results for doing the least in a game and actually thinks that he or she is amazing at the game while they absolutely suck at the game when they're forced out of their camping spot. Things I personally hate about campers are the way they kill the fun in a match, the attitude of some campers and how they make everyone slow down. I like to run around and go on the hunt, but if I have to check every corner then I'm not making a lot of progress which sucks. Even with all the abilities you get in some games, for example Titanfall 2 and CoD Infinite Warfare, you still see people sitting in a corner or waiting at a window to gun people down. The worst part is that you just spawned in and you get killed again because some sad sack of shit is camping the spawn location. As much as some games can be, it's just so frustrating if you get killed a lot of times because you can't even move and you're already dead again. No game is fun enough that this is ok, so yeah campers get hate and I think they deserve it. Nobody forces someone to camp, this is a choice and if you make that choice then you should realize that this choice often comes with getting hate from other players. So if you want to make friends you probably shouldn't camp because hardly anyone will like you for that, not even your own team mates.
But isn't camping a legitimate strategy?
Well it's not against the rules, someone can't be banned because he or she is camping. But it's a very dirty and sad way of playing a game, which makes it very unacceptable for a lot of players. So maybe it's not against the rules but it's not accepted by the majority, which then leads to people giving you hate for camping. Instead of camping you could also learn to actually get better at the game so you wouldn't even need to camp, but I guess that would require to make some effort and some lazy douchebags just can't be bothered with that. Camping is the easy way, practice and training is the hard way. You can imagine what a lot of people prefer, because why do your best if you can just camp? I think that's the real problem in games these days, people getting lazy and just wanting results without doing too much for it. Some developers also make it more attractive to go camping because of certain achievements/trophies and getting rewards in the game. Oh you need that many kills without getting killed yourself for that reward? Well let's just camp here and wait for some poor schmucks to come around the corner and get some easy kills. Often snipers are also confused with campers, but a sniper does have a reason why he or she is holding still at a position because otherwise you have the quick scopers that also annoy a lot of people. Which is also completey unrealistic, yeah a guy with a sniper rifle running around and quickly getting a kill when he bumps into someone. Yeah sure...
Can you stop campers?
No you can't. Even if you make the life of a camper miserable in a match this person will just leave and go to another match. The problem is that too many campers have succes with camping, even if some are absolutely failures they still get enough succes to stick with camping. As I mentioned before people prefer to take the easy way than the hard way and who can really blame them? Would you want to train for months or maybe even years to get good or just sit still and get a good result right now? In games this is how it often works, people want to get good results now because next week they might be playing another game. No matter how much you hate campers, how much you kill campers over and over again there will always be more campers and you can't get rid of them. Which pretty shows how many annoying people are online playing games. It's sad but unfortunately the truth. The good thing is that there are ways to counter a camper, so if you annoy the camper enough then this sad sack of shit will often leave because a lot of campers are usually also rage quitters. I really wish that we could all get along and just have fun playing a game, but unfortunately some people just want to ruin the fun of others with sad strategies like camping. I guess that just can't be avoided.
