Not another zombie game!

Have you ever had the feeling that there are too many zombie games? No? Then you're probably fine with all the zombie games that come out or you just don't care about them. But I often read comments where people hate on zombie games or games that just happen to have zombies in it. So I can't help but wonder if there are too many zombie games?


There's nothing wrong with zombie games?


Unfortunately that's not true, some zombie games are amazing but then there are also zombie games that are less fun and interesting. I really like Resident Evil a lot, it's pretty much my go to game if I want to enjoy some classic survival horror. Especially the remake is scary, with a new monster that can't be stopped and zombies that turn into crimson heads and chase you at high speed! Then there are more arcade like experiences like Dead Rising where it's a slaughter fest and you can kill as many as you like because it seems the game never runs out of zombies. I guess there is a zombie game for everyone, but that doesn't automaticly mean that everyone likes a zombie game.


Putting zombies in certain games is a mistake?


Sometimes it's a bit unexpected to see zombies show up in a game where you didn't expect them or when they behave in such a way that you hardly recognize that they're zombies or some type of undead douchebags. Metal Gear Survive, a game that was announced some time ago, got a lot of negativity because people aren't excited to see zombies in the Metal Gear universe. So maybe it's not a good idea to just put zombies in a game and expect it to be fine, but if this plays just a small role, for example in Saints Row the Third there is one mission where you have to deal with zombies, then it shouldn't be that much of a problem to most people.


There will always be zombie games?


The way things are looking now then I can understand why you would think that, because zombies are quite popular thanks to shows like the Walking Dead and Z Nation. But also some games have made them popular, for example Resident Evil, the Walking Dead game, Dead Rising and Plants vs Zombies. So if you really hate zombies and zombie games then you'll have to deal with zombie games for quite some time, maybe there will be a time and a place when zombies are less popular and people want something else. But for now it's zombies and super heroes, so I hope you like at least one of them because they'll be around for several years in the near future!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Movie Monday: Mr & Mrs Smith

There are movie that might not look good at first, when you hear about it, but once you see the movie then you know that it's a fantastic movie. What really made Mr & Mrs Smith so good was the acting of the two main stars in the movie, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They had so much fun making this movie that it's an absolute joy to watch the movie. Which is good news for people that are looking for a fun movie to watch! Married to a spy? The story of Mr & Mrs Smith is pretty simple, a man is a spy and marries to a woman not knowing that she's a spy too. Apparently both of them are unaware of eachothers activities until their paths cross in their spy life, which leads to a lot of fighting and explosions. It's really not the action that makes this movie so much fun to watch but it's the humour. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything.
