Sinful Sunday: Unfair advantage?

Have you ever noticed how some people get more attention with their posts or videos? To be honest I don't really care about that but I can't help but notice to see the same people show up in my Xboxlive feed, as if nobody else posts videos. It makes me wonder if some people have some type of advantage or if this is just some weird coincidence.

Does gender play a role?

I know that some women have a rough time online, dealing with douchebags that give them shit just for being a woman that plays a game. But then there are these posts I read online that sometimes give me the feeling that women do have an advantage in certain situations. For example a guy posts a message that he's looking for people to play with, he even lists games he wants to play with other people, but nobody responds. A day later a girl posts pretty much a similar message, she also lists games she wants to play with other people and they're similar to the games the guy wants to play with other people. Guess what? She gets a lot of replies, somehow now there are a lot of people that want to play games with her but somehow the guy still has no responses. Is that unfair? I think it is! But can you really blame the girl for that? No you can't. With videos that are being recommended it's often the same thing. I get almost every day three recommended videos in my Xboxlive feed, nine out of ten times two of the three videos are from women. A coincidence? I think not! Apparently some women are pretty popular with their videos, at least on Xboxlive, and so a lot of guys, maybe also other women, like these videos a lot while other videos that can be just as funny or maybe even funnier are left in the dust because they happen to be made by a guy. I know that this isn't always true but it just feels wrong to me that this happens, but I guess we live in such a world where gender absolutely plays a role in what people like and dislike because honestly a lot of these popular videos are usually people showboating and I don't see what's so amazing about that.

You can't compete with popular people?

Some people seem to always get attention, wether they're active every day or disappear for a year and then come back. It seems like some people always get likes, always get views and always find themselves in the spotlights while others are pretty much left in the dark. I do understand that it's difficult to get a spot and people finding you in the ocean of videos and posts online, but it sucks that people that pretty much post once every month and make two minute videos get praise and attention while people that do ten times as much get hardly anything. That seems unfair to me but apparently people like people that are well known or even famous. If you're a nobody then it's hard to become somebody, especially when people don't even want to give you a chance. This gets to some people so badly that they quit with everything, no more videos and no more posts which is a shame because some people are really good at it. Unfortunately they don't always get the attention they deserve, so all I can say is hang in there and hopefully one day people will discover you and you get more succes.
