Are you done with multiplayer (games)?
Last weekend I went through a rough time in Overwatch, nothing serious but just very annoying and frustrating moments that made me want to quit with multiplayer. I got some of the dumbest and most annoying players constantly in my team which absolutely made me want to quit multiplayer, because if this is what multiplayer is turning into then I don't want to play it anymore. But I took a short break and a couple of days later I'm feeling a better, but sometimes there are just moments that you're completely done with people. Have you ever had one of those moments? It's not pleasant, I can tell you that much!
What to do when other people frustrate you?
The big problem with games like Overwatch is that it's a team game and you can only win if you play as a team. So if you keep going for solo actions or just pretty much screw your team over by refusing to play as your role then you pretty much doom your team to lose. For example people that pick the healer and don't heal, all they do is hang around in the spawn area or just go to the enemy team and get themselves killed every time. Yeah that's fun, oh wait it's not... What also sucks is that people don't learn from their mistakes. For example I played some 3 vs 3 and I was teamed up with two friends in a group, these guys never said a word so that was already a great start of terrible team work. I picked Zenyatta and actually did pretty good in round one, so good that when both my team mates died in round one I won the first round for them by killing the two remaining characters on my own. But did my team mates switch characters? No of course not, they stuck with the two characters they suck with and kept playing as them, making certain that my hard work was for nothing and we would lose anyway. So I pretty much made certain that they would lose by picking the most useless classes and got myself killed as fast as possible because I didn't want those two assholes to get a victory if I have to do all the work and they just absolutely suck! This wasn't nice of me but I was just so fed up with these people, because they play 3 vs 3 but make no effort to work with you or even communicate with you. Then they keep picking useless classes and get themselves killed by charging the three enemy players on their own, yeah great strategy. Is it so bad that I annoyed with that? That I keep losing these matches because of horrible matchmaking and just never make any progress at all thanks to team mates like that. Ok I probably shouldn't be this troll to ruin their game but they didn't leave any choice because they would never pick a tank or a healer but just characters that they both were terrible with. This one guy just kept picking Genji and he never got one kill as him, I think at that point you can figure out that you suck as Genji and you should pick another class. No not these guys, these guys just kept playing as Genji and Sombra, yeah great fun. My reaction was a bit extreme and mean, but honestly sometimes it feels good to give assholes what they deserve and that is absolutely nothing good. Besides if they want to be assholes then I can be an even bigger asshole. I know it's not the most mature and best way to handle it but hey it feels good to screw them over when they absolutely deserve it!
Are you going to stop playing multiplayer games?
Not right away and maybe never, but I'm glad that Final Fantasy XV is coming out soon because I'm in desperate need of a nice single player adventure where it's just me against the game. I don't hate multiplayer games, it's just some people that really frustrate me and that make playing these games very annoying. Unfortunately you don't have a filter that weeds out the annoying and frustrating people and keep the fun people in the game for you. If you play as a random player in multiplayer then you're always at risk to get in bad or frustrating teams. Your best bet is free for all where you don't have to worry about how good your team will be. But free for all usually attracts the sad sacks of shit that consider themselves superior to all the other players, it's a real try hard nesting ground and that's not really fun either. Just go to 1 vs 1 in Overwatch and you'll see what I mean, people that will camp in their spawn area and wait for you to come to them. Oh yeah great fun, so much fun that 1 vs 1 has become completely unplayable for me at this point. Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm the problem and I just no longer can find myself in the way (multiplayer) games are played these days. But I don't think someone can be too old for a game nor do I think that I hate multiplayer games, it's really some people that I seriously dislike with their way of playing and attitude in the game. If there would be a way to find some more like minded people then that would be great, but so far it's just one big random mess for me. Sure you can join groups now on Xboxlive but I personally don't put a lot of faith in that, maybe it works for some people but other people like me just like to go their own way. But the thing is that I won't stop playing multiplayer games, but I would love to dive into some single player games to wash away a lot of frustration I gained from months of playing multiplayer games. Sometimes I'm really in the need for that, what about you? Do you ever feel the need to play something else completely? It's one of the things I love about games, the fact that there are so many different games and that there is a game for almost every mood and situation you're in. Even when you're frustrated and completley done with multiplayer games, you can just dive into a solo adventure in another game. Yes games are great! People on the other hand are not always great.
