Is this easy mode?

You probably heard D.VA say this several times in Overwatch, but is it really such a bad thing to play on easy mode? Is that something you should hide and be ashamed for because other people would think less of you? I don't think so!

Playing on easy mode isn't a bad thing?

Actually it's a good thing and even a smart thing to do. What better way to learn a game on the easiest difficulty, when you're in a hurry you can play faster through a game and it's a good way to get achievements/trophies as well because a lot of achievements/trophies will require you to do certain things that are often more difficult to do on a higher difficulty. Which is exaclty why easy mode is the best mode to get achievements/trophies. Sure you won't impress anyone with that and there will be no bragging rights, but does that really matter? I personally don't see the worth in that, because who cares that someone beat the game on the highest difficulty? I beat several games on the highest difficulty and I've never heard anyone about that. In the Halo games I beat Halo Reach and Halo 4 on legendary difficulty, that wasn't the easiest thing to do but in all honesty also not the most difficult thing I ever did in a game. But the thing is that nobody will suddenly treat you any different. In multiplayer you're just as much a target than someone who beat it on the easiest difficulty.

Why do people give shit to people who play on easy mode?

Because some people consider themselves to be better because they can beat the game on a higher difficulty or on the highest difficulty. As I already mentioned earlier, it doesn't really matter. Oh sure you can sometimes unlock some cool stuff in a game if you finish it on the highest difficulty but it's not something that makes people like you more. I think it actually has the opposite effect, I think people that brag and show off things because they beat the game on the highest difficulty get just as much shit thrown at them. Not that I feel sorry for them, but why even bother? Who cares what someone else did in their game? Do you play games for other people or do you play games for yourself? This is exactly why I don't give a shit about what other people have to say about the way I play games. If I finish a game on the highest difficulty then that's because I want to do that and if I succeed then I consider that as a personal victory and not a reason to brag to strangers online. To make things clear, just because someone can beat a game on the highest difficulty it doesn't mean that this person is better than you. Maybe he or she is better at the game but they're not a better person. I'd say if they have to make you feel bad because you can't or just don't feel like playing on the highest difficulty then they are clearly not the better person. Games are meant to be fun, for some that means facing challenges and others just want to have a an easy journey through the game. We're all different and we all play games our own way, I don't think there is a wrong way to play when it comes to selecting a difficulty.
