When you make a channel on youtube and start uploading videos it's up to you if you want to show the viewers who you are or if you want to stay anonymous. It makes sense that you at least let people know who you are but there are definitely succesful youtube channels where the youtuber hasn't revealed himself or herself and still get a lot of views on their videos. Because it doesn't really matter who you are, as long as people like your videos you should be getting a lot of views. But sometimes it really doesn't hurt to...


Reveal yourself to your viewers.


Some people might start on youtube with their face on the thumbnail of the video and you would know immediately who made the video and who the person is that's talking in the video. But some people prefer to start anonymous, usually later they'll reveal themselves and the mystery is solved. I think the viewers often prefer it that way, that you reveal yourself so they know whose videos they're watching. I don't think they really want to know who you are but people like to put a face to a voice they hear and maybe even like.


If you prefer to stay anonymous then that's not a problem, several youtubers are anonymous and still get a lot of views on their videos. So you don't have o reveal yourself to become succesful, but it wouldn't be a bad idea that at some point you do reveal yourself. Because if you have fans then they would like to know who you are and maybe meet up at certain conventions or events. I know that a lot of youtubers to that and it would suck that you can't go because you want to stay anonymous. But at the same time it's nice when you're anonymous, nobody knows who you are and as long as you don't open your mouth in public there isn't much chance for you to be recognized.


Is it better to reveal yourself or not? Well I think it's probably better to reveal who you are at some point, it doesn't have to be in the first year or even the second but if you want to have a close connection with your viewers then it helps if they at least know who you are instead of you just being a voice to them they hear. But as I mentioned before there are several youtubers that are succesful eventhough they stay anonymous, so you should never feel that you have to reveal yourself. It should definitely be your choice and not something that is forced.

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
