Youtube adventures part 18
When you first start with youtube you're pretty much anonymous, but the more subscribers and views you get the better the chance becomes that someone will recognize you. Which can be fun if someone freaks out when you're in the same game as him or her, but sometimes it can also be annoying when people are desperately trying to get your attention or will constantly try to kill you in the game just to ruin your recording. This raises a question.
How do you deal with recognition?
As I mentioned before, if your channel is new and it's pretty small then I doubt there will be many issues for you when it comes to recognition. I mean there is always a chance that some fans track you down in a game, especially on consoles you can see what kind of games someone is playing and also on Steam if I'm not mistaken. But I doubt that with a small channel people will go out of their way to play games with you, freak out when you play a game with them or that they want to be in a video of yours one way or another. But your channel might grow eventually so what doesn't happen in year one could possiblly happen in year two and so on!
I have a small channel on youtube so I haven't deal with a lot of recognition, but sometimes I get messages from people on Xboxlive that saw my video and have a question or sometimes leave a comment. Now this might surprise you but these comments aren't negative comments, some just say nice videos or thanks for the tips in that video. But it could just as easily go the other way, even when you try to be helpful there might always be people that don't appreciate your help and will be negative towards you anyway. Just remember that if you put a video on youtube there is always a chance that someone might contact you or recognize you.
If you have a big channel or at least a certain amount of subscribers and viewers that you get noticed more, then you should realize that the chance of recognition becomes bigger. This might be odd at first but you would be surprised if you knew how easily some people can get used to that. The most important thing I can tell you is not to let it go to your head, just keep doing what you've been doing and people will most likely love you for it. If you suddenly act like you're youtube royalty then people might not be that charmed by your and some will hate you for it. I guess either way there will always be people that complain, whine or just hate you. I guess it comes with the fame and succes, some people just can't stand that others have succes with their channel while their channel doesn't get succes.
