Doom (2016), you're a killing machine!

If you're just as old as me, maybe even older, than you probably know when Doom first showed up. It was in the time when playing games was still considered as something stupid eventhough most people would probably secretly play these games anyway. Doom was the kind of game that made it cool to play games, no family time nonsense but straight up killing monsters and demons with whatever weapon you could find! Doom 4 (now just called Doom) is a reboot of the Doom series and makes you the killing machine you probably always were deep inside.

Is the reboot an improvement?

Of course it's easy to say yes, sure the graphics look a lot better (duh) and also the gameplay is pretty sweet but does a game like Doom still belong in this time? Not that I want to talk shit about Doom but the game is pretty old and a reboot really makes you wonder if they should've just made an original gory first person shooter. Well I think that the Doom reboot is pretty good, it gives you the classic killing action but now in a new sauce, one that tastes delicious and wants you to ask for more. It's strange though to be back in Doom, because now there is no real cover and it really comes down to you shooting the enemies first before they can shoot you! There is no real tactic when it comes to Doom, eventhough it doesn't hurt to find secret rooms or areas with bonus weapons and armor. Is Doom an improvement? I think it is, but that's mostly because I enjoy these type of games for of gore and violence. In Doom there is never a shortage of gore and violence!

Something you might/might not like?

Whenever you touch popular classic game the developers have to be careful, because if you change just a couple of things it makes some people mad. But then there sometimes also decisions that make people happy. For example when I look at the Resident Evil remake then I think it's safe to say that most people like that, because it adds something extra without messing up the story in any way. With Doom it's more the type of weapons they add, for example you now have grenades that can help you destroy a group of enemies or just a fat demon. Some people think this is lame, others love it because it's useful and seeing them explode into pieces is fun, at least for some people. Then there's the chainsaw, now this is something every gory game should have because it brings the action up close and eliminates your enemies with ease. I guess there is always something that some people might like and others will hate. As long as you don't take things too seriously and enjoy some good old fashioned gore then Doom is probably the game for you!
