Sinful Sunday: Gamers are whiners?
I can definitely understand that sometimes you're upset, you don't like something and sometimes you have a feeling to express this. But then I look at the messages under the notifications of DC Universe Online and I see some of the saddest sacks of shit whining about things. Let me remind you, DC Universe Online is a free game that you can install and no one forces you to do that. You don't have to pay for a thing and yes it sucks if you have to wait in a queue but the developers are working hard on that and they've definitely improved things. But do the get appreciation for that? Nope, it's just more whining. At this point I get the idea that a lot of people on Xboxlive are actually babies.
When something doesn't work or works badly then you're allowed to say something about it, right?
Absolutely! I would even encourage people to let the developers know if something doesn't work or if there's something you don't like about the game, but there are multiple ways of doing this and the way most people do it is disrepectful and with a lot of whining. I'm not saying everyone does that, some people actually have some positive criticism which helps developers a lot more than the typical you suck and I never want to play this game again bullshit! If you want to be heard then it's not about being rude or loud, it's about making valid points of criticism and try to be respectful in bringing these points to light. Now I'm not saying you have to go over the top with this. For example, dear Sir/Madam would you kindly fix the game because I have a hard time playing it the way it is now. But you could say that the login queue in DC Universe Online is too long and if they could fix that. Remember that people aren't trying to bully you, they want the game to work just as much as you probably do but sometimes things go wrong and then there are times that it goes wrong a lot. That sucks but raging or whining to the developers doesn't fix things faster!
People like to ventilate their frustration?
Oh I get that, I really get that. But why not play a game that allows you to do that, instead of leaving hateful messages you could just play a game like Saints Row IV and go on a killing spree or destroy everything you see, that usually makes me feel a lot better! I know it's easy to hate and it's easy to be negative, but sometimes you got to give something time and that means patience which is something not a lot of people seem to have these days. Things have to work right now and you don't want loading screens and just jump from one place in the game to the next. If technology would allow that don't you think it would be in the game already? Maybe there is certain technology that would allow this to happen but putting that in a game is a whole other thing. It sucks when a game disappoints, that it's not as good as you were hoping but getting mad at the developers of a game (especially when you get the game for free) or at a game that hasn't even released yet (CoD Infinite Warfare) is stupid. I really wonder if these whiners have nothing better to do with their time, because instead of being an asshole to people that try to fix things you could also play another game or maybe go outside and get some fresh air.
Gamers are whiners?
I know that not every gamer is a whiner, but I do realize that we all whine every now and then. I'll be perfectly honest and say that I whine about things as well, I usually try to not do that to other people online. Unless you consider this blog as a load of whining, I guess some people get that idea. The thing is that gamers these days are spoiled, we are all spoiled and used to getting nice things. So even when we get a free game then it's expected to work perfectly eventhough you should realize that the game is already five years old and sometimes has some issues. Also keep in mind that eventhough a lot of people might have issues with it that there are also a lot of people that have a lot of fun with that same game. Gaming is a relaxing hobby but it can sometimes also be very frustrating! It's easy to give in to the negativity and shout how much a game sucks or how the developers should be fired for making such a terrible game, but you could also do something else with that time and just play another game. Perhaps it's just more popular these days to be the rudest and most whiny asshole online, I guess that does explain why more and more people don't want to play online with other people just to avoid unpleasant confrontations with some of these whiners. Not every gamer is a whiner but it's starting to become a trend for gamers to be loud and obnoxious and that's a real shame if that's where the gaming community is going. I don't expect that we're all friends with eachother but it would be nice if there was a bit of respect for one another and for the developers that make these games for us.
