Sinful Sunday: Immature behaviour is taking over in games?
I'm not going to pretend that I'm a graceful winner, if there's an emote that I can do in the victory screen then I'll most likely do that emote. But just for fun, not really to annoy other players. Unfortunately there are a lot of other players out there that don't just stick to have fun, some really want to annoy other players up to the point that they rage quit the game. Which seems to become a trend these days and I can't say I'm a fan of that.
Everything is permitted in a game?
If you really believe that then you should read the code of conduct you would agree to with so much haste to play a game, because not everything is permitted! Of course there are no rules against being an asshole, at least if being an asshole means you do things that aren't against the rules. A popular annoying move is teabagging another player, this is very popular in Halo multiplayer but also Destiny PvP and CoD multiplayer is full of people that like to be that immature douchebag that needs to teabag. Then there are people that like to plug in their microphone and play some crappy music or start singing themselves, I don't think I have to explain why this is annoying. In Destiny PvP you will also see people dance on your corpse or wave whenever they kill you, this might seem innocent but the main purpose of these actions are to annoy another player and I can't say that's really something I like. Of course it's nice to get revenge, when you teabag the person that teabags you and if you dance on the corpse of the person that danced on your corpse. Oh it's not mature but sometimes these annoying douchebags should get a taste of their own bullshit. Unfortunately this only makes them want to get back at you and it will turn in an unending cycle of immature behaviour. Maybe some people like that but I really don't like that the focus on competitive multplayer now lies on how much of an asshole can you be to other players.
Kids are to blame for immature behaviour?
It's easy to say that it's always kids that are the immature assholes, but in truth it could be anyone. Just because you're considered as an adult because you're 18+ that doesn't automaticly make you mature. But I will say that having a group of kids, especially when they're below the age of twelve, that this usually doesn't bring out the best in them. Having one or two kids in a game shouldn't be that much of a problem and it's wrong to think that kids are always the cause of immature behaviour, but sometimes it only takes one immature asshole to get immature behaviour started in a match...
People have a right to taunt other players?
There's at least not a rule against that and if you keep things fun then I don't see the problem with that, but you can understand that certain behaviour can be very frustrating to some people and it's not fun when you keep dying to a camper or some other person that uses cheap tricks to beat you and then on top of that you have to face the bullshit emotes or other immature nonsense. It doesn't surprise me that people rage quit when this happens a lot to them in a match, what's worse is that this will only make the immature assholes do this more often because it gets them results.
So what do you do against immature behaviour?
Well you could always try to ignore it but that usually doesn't make people stop, getting back at these immature assholes usually only invites more immature behaviour. If some people really annoy you that much then you just give them a negative rating and block them, then you leave the match and join another match. It's easy to get mad or frustrated, but you should realize that this is exactly what they want. So it's better that you just ignore these people, often they're sad sacks of shit with nothing better to do than to annoy other people in games. Also you should realize that someone that considers annoying other people is more fun in a game than actually playing them isn't someone that is worth your time!
