It's a big online gaming world

Do you remember the first time you played a game online with other people? It seems so normal now but I remember that at first it was a bit weird for me. I didn't freak out or anything but this choice to play with random strangers online was a weird experience and also playing games with your friends without having to invite them all to your place to play games together. As a console gamer I arrived late at the online gaming party but once you're there you just don't want to leave anymore!

Playing games online is more fun than offline?

That depends, because some games are made to play online while others are more for playing offline. It also depends what kind of gamer you are, because if you enjoy playing games with others then online gaming is probably your way to play games. But if you're more the lone wolf type of gamer then it wouldn't surprise me that you prefer to play offline games, even if you would play online games then you would probably still go your own way even if you're part of a team. Something that is a fact is that games with online options often have a longer life span, because it keeps players busy and usually keeps things more fun. While offline games often stay the same and only dlc could bring something new and then it really depends how much fun this dlc is going to be. So offline games can definitely be fun, but online games are usually better on the long run.

The online gaming community has changed?

I've noticed that, mostly in competitive online first person shooters but pretty much in anything competitive. Insults are often used and a lot of people consider online gaming as a new way to annoy other people. I'm not expecting that we're all going to be friends but why all the hate? I'm not going to pretend that we were all friends or super nice to eachother in the early days of online gaming, but things have definitely become worse. At this point some people don't even want to play games online with others because they assume that the people they meet are going to be annoying assholes, which makes me sad that people would rather play alone and miss out on a lot of fun than risking online gaming and experiencing some negative situations with other people. The problem is that you can't avoid annoying people online, sure you can block them or ignore them but that doesn't really make them go away. But it's not all bad, I've said this many times but it's true! Sure the immature douchebags might be louder and that might give you the impression there are more annoying people than friendly people but that's not true. Sometimes you just need to get lucky and sometimes it pays off to try and be social and make some friends, it might just work out for you and make online gaming a lot more fun!
