The worst games in the first half of 2017 (my opinion)
Where over the half year marker and it's a good idea to look back at the first half of 2017, what kind of good games did you play and what kind of bad games did you play. Unfortunately for me there were quite some bad games for me, some I managed to dodge but others I unfortunately bought. But I also bought some good games, so in a way that evens it out a bit. But right now I want to talk about the bad games of the first half of 2017. Just keep in mind that this is my opinion, I'm not stating this as a fact!
Which games did you hate the most?
For Honor.
Let me first start with For Honor, a game I had high hopes for and that looked really cool. I played the beta and it was fun, not super amazing but definitely fun. But the moment I got the game I realized how much was wrong about the game, just the connection issues alone are enough to make you mad. The amount of times I got disconnected during a match is enough to drive someone insane! Sometimes it would happen at the last moments of the match, like the last round and only one or two enemies would be alive and I would disconnect. Yeah I definitely hate that! But I also got bored with the game really fast, I was hoping that single player was bigger and offered more but no the game was clearly designed for multiplayer and when multiplayer has a lot of connection issues then there is no fun playing that game at all!
Friday the 13th (game).
I was looking forward to play Friday the 13th, but now I wish I never bought the game. It already started badly when the game wasn't for sale in the Xboxlive store on launch day, this should've already given me a sign or something that this game is no good. But no I was stubborn and really want to play the game. Well in the first two weeks I was exactly in one match and got disconnected. Somehow I just couldn't get into matches and when you don't know anyone else to play the game with, in private matches, then you're screwed. Several weeks later the quick play issues are gone but now the game is just full of people that aren't fun to play with. People that shout at you or curse at you for no reason at all, people that disconnect the moment they feel they can't win or can't get a certain achievement or just people being dickheads. Put on top of that the lame controls, which are really bad, and the lack of content, just three maps, then it's safe to say that this game sucks!
Also some disappointments?
Yeah, Mass Effect Andromeda was the biggest disappointment of 2017. I don't hate the game, I actually enjoyed playing the game, but there are several issues with the game and my first playthrough was not that fun. Moments where cutscenes would freeze, moments where characters aren't moving but they keep on talking, the facial expressions that look like everyone is on botox or how they tried to the crap from Dragon Age Inquisition into Mass Effect Andromeda. You see I really like Dragon Age Inquisition, but I wasn't a big fan of the whole get ten or twenty missions as once and figure out what you want to do first type of gameplay. I like to handle one mission at a time but in Mass Effect Andromeda you often get several missions at one spot in the game and you figure out what you want to do first. Mass Effect Andromeda isn't a bad game, but it definitely disappointed me in certain points. I really hope that this isn't the end for Mass Effect and I really want to see the story go further in Mass Effect Andromeda 2. But I think that the game needs some desperate changes because a lot of fans are angry and not just disappointed!
What about the other half of 2017?
Well let's hope that it will be better, I have my doubt about certain games but I probably will take a chance on some of them. You can never be a hundred percent certain about a game, it's always a bit of a gamble if you're going to like a game or not. But you can get a pretty good idea if a game is going to be fun to play or not. I try to do my research as much as I can before I buy a game, you just don't want to buy bad games that aren't fun to play or that just don't work at all. If all else fails you can always fall back to dlc, which is sometimes a much better alternative than buying a new game. I hope that my bad experiences with games end here but I somehow get a feeling that at the end of 2017 I will have more games for the list of bad games of 2017. I hope you had better luck in the first half of 2017 with games.
