Summer game tip: Fortnite
The game has only been out for several days and I see myself playing this game already every day. Even if it's just for an hour or two, it's a fun game that let's you be creative and go on a killing spree if you feel like it. There is so much to do and so much to unlock that you can keep yourself easily busy with this game for weeks if not months! So that makes this a great game to survive the Summer with.
You're own kind of character?
In Fortnite you have four different character classes but each character class has several sub classes, which means that when two people play as a soldier in a team they don't always have the exact same abilities. This makes it less of a problem when everyone in your team plays the same class, because as much as you might like to be original we probably all have our favourite type of class and it sucks if you somehow didn't feel like you could play as that class because everyone else picks that class as well. I started as a soldier, a very fun and easy character class to start with. The female soldier, the starter hero, has some useful abilties like a grenade and later you also get quick reload, on a higher character level, so you become a real killing machine! After several mission I switched to the constructor, I unlocked him and had a real blast playing as this character because you can build a device called BASE and this empowers all the structures around it. So walls become a lot tougher and enemies attacking walls or floors empowered by BASE will take damage! You also have a shield charge that helps you go through a group of husks, the name of the zombie looking creatures, and get you out of a corner. These last couple of days I've been trying out the ninja, which plays a lot differently because now you have faster movement speed and you can throw shuriken that do a lot of damage to enemies. You also get a double jump ability that allows you to reach higher spot without having to build your way up there. I haven't played the Outlander that much yet but from my short experience with this character you've got some abilities that allow you to place items on the ground that do damage to the husks and you have a chance to get double loot when you search for items.
Repetitive?
It's easy to say that the game is repetitive and eventhough you do the same type of things you can play it the way you want to play it. The objective you need to defend isn't always on the same spot, even if you play on the same map the objective could be far away from the spot where it was last time. This doesn't just create new possibilities for your defense, a different location often asks for a different approach, but also helps you explore the map a bit more and discover new things. If you would always have the objective at the same spot it wouldn't encourage you to look further, but now you will often explore the map more because you're looking for the objective and you often find a lot of good things on the way. There are different missions and different difficulties, so if something is too easy or you don't like a certain mission you can switch to something else. As simple as protect the objective or just search for survivors, either way it's something you can do and it doesn't have to be repetitive unless you let it become repetitive. You can also experiment with your fort, you could try one thing or try something completely different. If you build the same type of defense every time then things can get boring, but if you switch it up a bit and try new things then that keeps things interesting and you might even discover a more effective way of stopping the husks from reaching your objective!
What makes this game so much fun?
The possibilities, the creativity and unlocking a lot of cool stuff. You earn V bucks, the currency in the game, with some missions, side missions, challenges, daily missions or get them as a reward for your collection book. Sometimes there are also founder coins in certain llamas, the loot boxes in this game, that help you unlock special items from a llama. There is so much you can unlock, it would seriously take you quite some time to unlock it all. You can also just focus on building, like Minecraft but then faster and in my opinion more fun. I've build some crazy structures and especially in the missions by your base, the one with the big shield, you can go crazy with building because the mission starts when you're ready and you can go completely crazy there! I really enjoy the creativity you can put in the game and it really keeps you busy and makes me happy to play this game. You also get daily rewards for just logging in so it really pays off to check the game at least once a day. Feel free to check it out!
