Offline gaming goes extinct?

Do you ever play games offline? I used to do that a lot, well to be totally honest in the good old days (NES, SNES and N64 days) this was normal. You didn't know better and games were only available offline. But when online gaming started to show up on consoles it became more and more important to make this the standard approach to gaming. Now when you play a new game you often have to be online, otherwise the game doesn't work or you won't earn any achievements. This really means the end for offline gaming to me, because if I can't play games or earn achievements then that takes away a lot of fun of gaming for me.

You have to be online all the time?

It seems that this is the way to play games these days. I've played games offline, I think the last one I played was Batman Arkham Knight, but this caused several problems. You don't have acces to everything and I didn't earn any achievements in the time that I played offline. I know that this isn't a big issue for some people but it sucks that this doesn't unlock on the Xbox One when you play offline. So it pretty much forces every achievement hunter to go online when you want to earn some achievements while playing games. But there are also games that require you to be online to play them, this is either because you play online with others, it actually makes sense that you would have to be online with that, or because you play on a game server that requires you to be online. This also means that if the game server has issues, something that is beyond your control or fault, that you can't play the game. This sucks, to say the least. I understand that the more advanced technology is the more you get sucked into this always online type of gaming but I do miss the good old days of not having to worry if you can go online, having to worry if the game servers are working or having to deal with lag or anything like that. These are also things you get with online gaming, as much fun as it can be it definitely has some issues as well.

Do you still play games offline?

Nope, when I play games I prefer to earn some achievements as well so that requires me to be online all the time when I play games. I've tried offline gaming and I know from experience that this doesn't always go without issues when it comes to earning achievements. Besides it's not a big issue, I mean you just log in and you should be online on your console. At least if all the cables are plugged in and you have an internet connection. I wouldn't mind to go back to offline gaming, as long as I still earn achievements, but to be honest online gaming doesn't bother me that much. As long as I have no internet issues, which sometimes happen more often than I would like, I should be fine to play games. It doesn't bother me to be online when I play games, I don't have that feeling that you're being watched or anything like that. Besides who would want to watch me play games? Looking at my YouTube videos not that many people! Honestly playing games online is fine, but offline has some charms as well. I mean I wouldn't mind to dive back in an old Mario platformer or go on an adventure in the legend of Zelda games. You don't need to be online to play games, but these days playing online has become more important and is required more often than not to actually play a game. Maybe this bothers some people but I have gotten used to it. It might sound stupid but as long as I have fun and can earn some achievements I don't really care if I play games online or offline. What about you?
