Telltale games are the best games?
If you like good stories, interesting characters, making decisions that have consequences in the game and you're in for an adventure then Telltale games are exactly what you're looking for! I'm not saying it's for everyone though, but I think most people that appreciate a good story and a game that isn't afraid to leave out some action to add some more amazing details and depth to the story and characters is still an amazing game!
Telltale games are all the same?
I've heard that before and I can see what they mean, but for that reason every first and third person shooter is also the same. Yes you have to make decisions in the Telltale games and those decisions have consequences. But that doesn't mean that every game is exactly the same. I mean just put the Walking Dead game next to Minecraft story mode, two completely different games and yet they're both games from Telltale Games. But what about the Game of Thrones game, Batman game, Guardians of the Galaxy game or the Wolf Among Us? They're all Telltale games and yet none of them feels exactly the same as the other. They all take place in a completely different universe with different characters and a different style. For example the Minecraft game has everything looking like you would expect in a Minecraft game with the squares, while the Wolf Among Us is a game with bright colours and is way more brutal. This is also something you should keep in mind, don't expect Telltale games to be for kids because they can be brutal and absolutely unforgiving with some of the choices you make in the game!
It's all about choices?
It is, at least that's often what plays a major role in Telltale games. Especially some of the choices you make with a timer and you either go for choice A or for choice B. Some people think that they're smart by not making a choice and wait for the time to run out but then a choice is made for you and that might not be something you like and you'll have to accept that choice or restart the chapter to make a choice yourself! In the Walking Dead games these choices carry over and it's really cool how this still plays a role two games further in. For example one of the main characters in the Walking Dead games, Clementine, still remembers her friends and what they did for her. So be careful with your choices, they can have a very strong effect on the game and what will happen next. But certain things are meant to happen, some people you can't save no matter what you do. This is rough but in a way also life itself, sometimes there is nothing you can do to stop something bad from happening. That doesn't just make these games good but also quite realistic in that aspect.
Why are Telltale games so good?
It depends who you ask but I think most people can agree that they like the story, the characters and the feel of the games. Yesterday I was playing Guardians of the Galaxy and they captured the essense of the movies in this game so well. The way the characters act towards eachother, the humour and of course the music. It's amazing! Telltale games are so good because they give you an adventure, a story that you want to see and experience. These are games where you can lose yourself in and enjoy an adventure. There are moments where you laugh, but even moments where you cry and have to say goodbye to some characters. Telltale games can be cruel, there are moments where I was absolutely not happy with things that happened. But isn't life just the same? I guess Telltale Games gives us games that are so much like life but at the same time give you a chance to affect these games and create your own story inside this game. This personal touch makes these games so amazing and absolutely worth checking out!
