Movie Monday: Resident Evil: Vendetta
A lot of Resident Evil fans hate the Resident Evil movies, you know the live action movies with Alice in them. But the animation movies are a bit more popular, probably because their favourite characters show up in them and to be honest they're pretty good! Is Resident Evil: Vendetta also good? Well let's find out!
Chris is our hero?
So far it was Leon that stole the show in these animation movies, Chris showed up before but now he actually has the main role in this movie and as a Chris fan I like it! You follow Chris when he tries to stop a terrorist and things don't go so well, which then leads him back to an old friend, no no not Leon but Rebecca. Yeah big surprise there, I didn't watch any trailers or anything about this movie so that was a pleasant surprise. So many Resident Evil memories come back, most of them are good ones of course! Later Leon also joins the party and the real action begins!
Creepy and more disturbing Resident Evil movie?
Already from the first part in the movie you realize that this Resident Evil isn't trying to just give you action, it also tries to freak you out and I must admit that the first part did a good job with that. When they're in the old house you get those mansion flashbacks, I mean as a player watching the movie, and you know that something bad will happen but you don't know exactly what. Then there's a child zombie and you know that things are messed up! Unfortunately the movie turns more into an action spectacle but the first part definitely showed promise for maybe one day a Resident Evil movie that is actually going to be a very creepy movie instead of an action packed movie.
Should you check this movie out?
As a Resident Evil fan I can definitely recommend this movie, even if you haven't seen the previous movies because this is pretty much a stand alone type of movie. Eventhough the focus is mostly on action it all looks pretty cool. Just watching Chris take out dozens of zombies all by himself with his skills is absolutely amazing and cool to watch. Of course Leon also has his moments and shows off his skills. There are some shock effects but they don't hit that hard on an experienced survival horror fan, but I do welcome the attempts of the movie trying to make you uncomfortable at least. I had fun watching this movie and if you're not interested in buying then you can always rent it. I think that most Resident Evil fans would like this movie.
