Summer game tip: Party Hard
Not every game needs super gameplay, amazing graphics or an interesting story to be worth playing. Some games can just be fun by doing something fun, which is killing other people without getting caught in Party Hard. Ja ja I know what you're thinking, is this guy crazy? Nope, you're crazy killer that kills people at parties. Makes sense, right? Even if it doesn't it's still funny!
You're a killer?
Yep, you kill people and it's your job to kill everyone on screen without getting caught by the cops or bouncers. The good thing is that everyone can be killed, unfortunately some characters are a bit tougher to kill. Like a cop won't go down just like that, you need to trap them with one of many traps on the screen. Bouncers are a bit easier, you can kill them with traps or sneak up behind them and stab them in the back. The big problem with killing people on one screen is that it's easy for someone to spot you in the act of killing someone or moving a dead body. If this happens this person will try to call the police and then the police will chase you. At first the cop won't pursue you for long but the more often the cops are chasing you, every time you get spotted and someone calls the police, the longer the cop will chase you and the harder it will be to escape. You can use chase breakers, which are secret paths into a building or out of a building, but if you use these once to escape the cops when they're chasing you a plumber who looks a bit like Mario will show up and block that path. You can't kill this character by the way, unfortunately. You can play in the campaign where you kill your way through the USA or play on other maps and pick your own character. There is more than just one killer, you can be the guy who justs wants some sleep (standard killer), the cop (who can carry dead bodies without anyone suspecting him), the ninja (who specializes in stealth), the girl (who can knock people out to carry them to a spot where she can kill them without anyone spotting the kill) or the maniac (he has a chainsaw for some quick combo kills when there are a lot of people in one room).
More than one way to kill?
You can go for your average quick stab with your knife but it's more fun to use the traps. For example the horse is a good way to kick someone to death, you can poison the drinks or the food and see a lot of people die that way, you can rig a machine to blow up and watch that happen from a distance or you can use a car to run people over. There are more ways to kill but you can figure that out yourself! On some maps you also have special events happen. For example in Miami on the beach there will sometimes be a tornado at sea that will launch sharks at the beach and anyone that is near the sharks gets killed instantly. I've also seen zombies show up on that map and they start infecting everyone, at that point you can just kill everyone without risking anyone calling the police when they're all zombies. Just be careful you don't get hit because the zombies will kill you if you let them! If you kill cops several times on a map the FBI will show up, who will investigate the map and check all the rooms and areas. This makes it harder to kill but you can also kill them or evade them long enough for them to leave or arrest the wrong person if you trick them into believing that this person is the killer. The trick is still not to get caught, the moment someone does spot you killing someone or near a dead body that person will try to call the police. It's up to you to stop them or prepare yourself for the cops and try to evade them. If you kill the person that was trying to call the cops without being spotted you don't have to worry. Just keep in mind that if someone spots a dead body they will call the police, but the police won't chase you unless you're near the body or do something suspicious.
What makes this game so much fun to play?
I like games where you can just go crazy, for example Saints Row or GTA games where you can just go on a killing spree. So having a game that pretty much wants you to do that is actually a lot of fun. Party Hard doesn't look super smooth but the gameplay is actually pretty good. Your sprint is short and not super fast but I bet that's just to make it harder for you to escape the police or stop people from calling the cops. It forces you to be smart and not just go crazy with stabbing everyone in sight. There is one map where you can do that, so don't worry if you don't like to be clever all the time and just want to do some mindless killing in the game. Party Hard offers you fun in going on a killing spree and by making it a puzzle of doing it without getting caught by the police. The maps also change a bit every time you play them. You don't always get the same traps on a map and sometimes certain items you can pick up also change. You can also pick other killers, once you've unlocked them, so you can try different tactics with different killers. It's absolutely a fun game and a good way to blow off some steam without ending up in a mindless game, you definitely have to be smart in this game because if you try stabbing everyone you see just like that you're going to get busted!
