Destiny 2 beta, are you convinced to buy this game or not?
I haven't played Destiny for about a year and a half, mostly because I was sick and tired of the repetition and the issues of not reaching the highest rank unless you can form a team of six people for a raid. Destiny 2 promises us that this will be different, but my first look at the game in the beta didn't really get me super excited. So are you convinced to buy Destiny 2 or are you going to ignore this game?
What's wrong with Destiny 2?
Nothing really, I mean it looks good and the controls are pretty smooth. I also like how Bungie changed some of the powers a bit. For example the striker titan now has multiple smashes with the super and the arc light hunter has now a spear to dance with in his or her super instead of a dagger. I think the warlock has a big fiery sword, I didn't play as a warlock though so I'm not a hundred percent certain how that exactly works. The graphics look pretty smooth and the gameplay is pretty good as well. So what's the problem? Well...Destiny 2 looks a lot like Destiny. Oh sure the tower gets blown up and you have this cool first mission where you fight your way out, but honestly I just think that Destiny 2 is more of the same. Sure it's bigger and better but still pretty much the same in a lot of ways. Normally that doesn't have to be a problem but for me it will be. Because if I need once again five other players to reach the highest level with my character then I already want to stop caring about this game. I want there to be a solo journey to the top, that seems more intense and rewarding to be honest. Bungie pretty much forces you into teams if you want to get the best stuff and the highest level. I don't like that! The issues in Destiny are that it was so hard to find a team to play a raid with, I was never able to finish a raid because I either couldn't find a team of people to play with or the team I was in fell apart at the first sign of trouble. So you can imagine my dislike or working with other people in a game like this. It's nice when it works but when you have to deal with rage quitters or just trolls then there isn't much fun for you in these type of games. Unless you have a group of five friends that want to play the game with you, then raids should be a lot more fun. Unfortunately not everyone has five friends that play the same game on the same platform and want to play it with you. Another reason why I'm not excited about Destiny 2 is because it feels like it's going to be more repetition. So you end up doing the same levels and areas a thousand times for daily objectives or for loot farming. Maybe you find this exciting, I absolutely hate it! This killed Destiny for me and made me want to stop and never play it again.
Buy Destiny 2 or wait for Anthem?
Destiny 2 is available in September, so you don't have to wait that much longer. But just a couple of months more, I think in November, Anthem comes out and this is a completely new game and will hopefully give you something new and exciting. I must admit that I'm a lot more excited about Anthem than Destiny 2. I'm not saying Destiny 2 is a bad game, I didn't hate what I saw in the Destiny 2 beta, but I can't help but get a bad feeling from the beta and I've learned to trust my instincts with this because they're hardly ever wrong wether I want to play a game or not. Perhaps Destiny 2 will be everything that Destiny should've been, I'll be glad if I'm wrong about the game but right now I can't say that I'm that excited about Destiny 2, it feels to me that it's more of the same but with a fresh coat of paint on top of it. I more excited about a completely new game like Anthem. It still remains to be seen how amazing Anthem will be but I like new and exciting things, so right now Anthem has my attention and Destiny 2 can wait. I'm not telling you what you should do but if you feel the same about Destiny as me and you have the same issues then you really have to ask yourself if Destiny 2 is going to be a good buy for you. It's your money so you decide, but I can tell you that I've made up my mind. What about you?
