The colour value system is the same in multiple games?
Have you noticed that in some games there is a pattern of colours that shows you how much it's worth? This helps you recognize how valuable the item is that you got, in case you don't want to read the stats on the item. What's really interesting that this colour pattern is pretty much the same in different games, so does that mean that developers are accepting this as the right colour pattern or is it just a coincidence?
The colours, what do they mean Mason?
Pardon me, that's just a little joke. But seriously what do the colours mean? Let me first start with the colours I'm talking about. White (or grey) is often common, green is uncommon, blue is rare, purple is epic and yellow (or orange) is legendary. The first game that comes to mind where I saw these colours in this order was in Destiny, which made it easy to recognize items you really want and items you don't want. What's interesting is that these colours also showed up in Overwatch, in the same order, except for green which is left out in Overwatch, and also has the same value. Now I also noticed that Fortnite has the same colour value to the items. I can't help but wonder if the developers decided to go for the same idea or that it's just all a coincidence. Ok it might not be exactly the same but it comes close enough. I don't disagree with the developers, I like that they keep it the same because that makes it easier to memorize. If every game would have a completely different colour value system then that would be confusing and annoying in my opinion. Why change when you can keep it the same? Don't change something that works!
Should every game have this colour value system?
That would be nice, at least as long as that works. I mean if you don't have different types of loot with a ranking system then there is no need for a colour value system. But when there is a colour value system then it's nice when games keep it the same. The same counts for controls, the more games keep certain controls the same the easier it is to switch between these games and having to deal with mistakes that could get you killed in the game. Imagine throwing away a legendary item because yellow is a worthless item colour in another game you recently played. I think that you could slap yourself in the face if you made that mistake! So it's nice when games are similar in certain ways, not only is it nice when games keep something the same because it works but also to make it easier for the players when they switch between certain games. This is something I really don't like when I go from one game to another game and have to learn all the controls and how the game works again. Sometimes this takes about a minute to get used to but there are also games where after an hour you still struggle with learning the controls or how the menus or other things work in the game. So I would welcome more games to hold on to certain things that work, which in this case is the colour value system. You don't have to fix something that isn't broken!
