YouTube adventures -70- A voice but not a face for YouTube?
On YouTube you can find a lot of videos with commentary, people that talk about random things or talk about something specific. You might notice that a lot of people on YouTube have videos with commentary but often they don't show their face, not even on their profile. But there are also people that spam their face on almost every thumbnail. This does kind of make me wonder, is it possible that people can have...
A voice but not a face for YouTube?
I never had the intention of putting my face on any thumbnail or recording gameplay with a face cam. I know some people are interested in that, but honestly I don't see the value in it. Especially not for myself. I would find it distracting and I don't think I have a face that is meant for camera. I'm not saying I'm ugly, it's more that I'm not that comfortable in front of a camera. I did make a small exception in my first Sunday with a sinner video, which is my introduction video, because I put a picture of myself for the thumbnail. It's just for people to see what I look like, in case people are wondering who this idiot is who makes the videos or maybe here for the blog. It gives the person who makes all this a face and I know that is pleasant for some people.
I wouldn't worry too much about your appearance though, maybe you're not that attractive but that shouldn't keep you from putting a picture of your face on your profile or record some face cam footage if you're interested in that. There will always be haters or people that make fun of you, but these are often people hiding on the internet behind some lame profile pic that isn't their own face. I'm not saing that it's wrong to use other type of profile pictures but it's of course dumb to make fun of someone who is using his or her real face picture as his or her profile picture when you're hiding behind the picture of someone else or something else.
If you worry about how people will respond to how you look then I would suggest not to do it. People on the internet can be ruthless, so if you're really that worried about it then I can recommend you not to do it. If you don't care what others think of you or how you look then it's a much better idea to put your picture on your profile. I don't think that there is any face that isn't suited for YouTube, you can put your face on your thumbnails or put that face cam in the corner of the screen. I would suggest not to spam it, because no matter how much some people might like it there will always be people who don't like it and if your face is everywhere then that might keep some people away from your videos and I doubt that's what you want.
All I'm saying is not to be afraid to reveal yourself, but never see it as something you have to do. If you're fine with how you're doing things at the moment then keep things as they are. It's your channel and your choice if you want to reveal your face or not. Never let yourself be pressured into this or feel like you have to. I think that your voice is way more important than your face for YouTube videos, so don't worry too much about it. Who cares about a face cam or a picture of your face on the thumbnail when you sound amazing in the video? Honestly, just do what makes you happy!
