YouTube adventures -57- Frustration ruins videos?

When you record a video there are several things you have to keep in mind, not just what you do but also what you say. If you hardly do anything in the video and just talk then you better have an interesting story because watching someone talk for ten minutes can be boring, to say the least. But something else that can truly ruin a video is...

Frustration!

I get easily frustrated in games, for example dying to the same boss several times or not getting past a certain part in a level is often enough to frustrate me. Things get even worse in multiplayer, when a guy keeps killing you without any effort or people keep rage quitting and you end up losing because of it. This all builds up frustration and when you're recording that is probably not something you want to post on YouTube.

Some people, including myself, do post videos with frustration which is something that is honest. Because if you only post the happy and funny matches you pretty much create this false idea of you always having a great time when you play games. This sometimes makes people wonder if they're playing the same game or if they somehow have all the luck in the world when they play games because they hardly have any frustration to deal with.

The truth is that a lot of YouTubers only post the videos they like, so videos where they either look good, for example they became mvp or they got a lot of kills, or that were so funny that eventhough they didn't do anything amazing it was still worth showing. But where are the honest videos? The moments in the game you got upset, where things didn't go so well and you actually wanted to almost rage quit out of the match. Somehow hardly anyone wants to show that.

I think the excuse that a lot of YouTubers make is that these kind of videos aren't fun to watch, well maybe for the YouTuber it's less fun to watch but for others it can be fun to watch. I've laughed at people getting really annoyed in Overwatch, those videos are sometimes hilarious when you see all the things that go wrong. Why is this funny? Because I know how it feels, I've been there as well and it's because of that I can laugh about all the misfortune.

So does frustration ruin a video? I don't think it ruins a video immedately. As long as you don't go cursing and rampaging, eventhough there might still be people interested in that, then you can always decide to upload the video if you want to post something else than the always winning and always happy videos that are out there on YouTube. I understand if you rather not share the nasty side of gaming and put yourself in a negative light, but remember that nobody is perfect and honesty is actually appreciated. Well I like to think so, if it's really true that remains to be seen.
