Sinful Sunday: Hateful messages!
If you played games online with other people then you've probably gotten some hateful messages, especially in certain games it seems to be very popular to let other people know in a short message how you feel about them. I personally don't believe in being such a douchebag but if I receive a dumb message then they can get a dumb reply. But that doesn't really fix the problem...
Why do people send hateful messages?
Because a lot of people are sad sacks of shit? Well that's at least how I see it, especially when it's over something stupid as who won the match or who had the most kills. Does it really matter? Well to some people it does! Something I find really dumb about people that type these messages to you is that the entire match they couldn't be bothered to say one word or work together as a team but after the match they find the time to type this hateful message. I mean if they put the effort of the message, which is often typed by people that can't spell for shit, in the match then maybe we would've won. But no let's be a sad sack of shit and blame other people for losing. I think these messages are a way of some people dealing with their anger or maybe it helps them feel less like a compete utter failure at life. I mean who the fuck goes out of his way to let some random person online know how much you hate him or her? What does that say about you? Exactly, everything! It definitely doesn't help playing ranked mode in games, this is often were the biggest try hards and losers live and with live I mean that they play this game every day for hours! Not that there is anything wrong with playing a game but when you take it super seriously and completely freak the fuck out because you lost then you clearly need a break! When you play games then you should always keep in mind that you can lose, even if you're good at it and do your best. Sometimes you lose, it's just the way it is. Do I like losing? No, but do I start looking for people to blame and send them hateful messages? Nope, what's the point of that? It just shows I'm a terrible loser and I can't handle defeat as if I'm a big baby. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to be known as a baby when you're a grown man.
People are more toxic these days?
Yesterday I checked out the Overwatch forum and I saw several posts about people complaining about bad experiences with other people in the game. Some people go so far to deliberately throw games when this person they don't like is in that game or just spam their inbox with hateful messages for no other reason than picking a certain character they don't like or this person just having a bad day. Ah yes, because when you have a bad day everyone else has to suffer as well. Yeah that makes total sense to me! I have gotten several hateful messages when I was doing my placement matches in Overwatch, these people never said one fucking word the entire match while I was plugged in with my microphone. Not once did I yell at them or blame anyone, I tried to be supportive and gave call outs when I saw enemies trying to flank us. These people don't say a word, no after the match when you lose (because no one else communicates, wants to work as a team or pick useful characters) they let me know with hateful messages how it's my fault and how your family should get a terrible disease and all that type of nonsense. I mean seriously, what the fuck is wrong with some people? It's like there is a stupidity beam pointed at the room of this kid and he gets hit with an overdose! Another guy tries to insult me, he says that he has a kid with autism and he's even better than me. This is the Overwatch online community in all its glory but just a small symptom of the bigger problem which is online competitive gaming. There is always someone to blame and somehow it's never the person who blames other people. People are often called gay, retarded or even worse for no other reason than the person calling them this is unhappy. Instead of taking a break, doing anything else with your life to feel a bit better they stay in the game and get more toxic with each match. What a great contribution to the future!
How do you deal with hateful messages?
The easiest way to deal with them is to just ignore and block the sad sack of shit that sends you this message. Why waste time on a loser when you can just move on with your life? But I know that it's tempting to sometimes get back at them, let them know what you think of this idiot or sometimes you might even want to be creative and make fun of this person. Just remember that you can't win with people like this, they're too dumb to understand sarcasm and even if they understand it they'll respond with an even dumber message. People that send you a hateful message are dumb, it's that simple and they're a completely waste of time. If you're really that upset with someone then there are other ways of saying something, maybe during the match when you had a chance to say something that might have helped. But people that are too much of a chicken to use a microphone and then bitch and whine in a text message are most likely dumb kids or cowards that aren't even worth responding to. The best thing you can do is just block and mute the person that bothers you with hateful messages, this way you never have to be bothered with this loser again and you can just go on with your life. This sad sack of shit can scream and whine all he or she wants but you don't have to deal with that anymore!
