Movie Monday: Logan

I heard a lot of good things about this movie so I couldn't just resist checking this movie out and I must admit that the movie didn't disappoint. But it wasn't just a darker Wolverine movie, it was also quite an emotional and tragic movie. It pretty much shows the other side or should I say what happens after the story is over, which isn't really that great. The movie on the other hand is pretty good, I absolutely enjoyed watching it!

Logan is old?

One of the things you'll notice pretty quick is that Logan isn't really himself, he's old and in pain. Somehow his healing factor isn't really working that well anymore and it becomes more clear in the movie that fights aren't without consequences. Those same fights are also more brutal than ever, which is actually quite refreshing after seeing Wolverine pretty tame in the previous movies. I think this movie tries to show you that people get older and mutants as well, but when mutants get older it causes a lot more problems. Seeing Professor Xavier struggling with his illness is tough, but then when he loses control you realize how dangerous he really is! Then there's the little girl, Laura, that shows up out of nowhere and she has a lot in common with Logan.

Wolverine junior?

It seems that way, because Laura has the same aggression and mutant abilities as Logan. You might think that this makes the movie lame but Laura is actually a fun and interesting addition to the movie. Don't think that Laura is the type of girl that is playing with dolls and runs away from danger. No she cuts off the head of someone that tries to grab her! It's also interesting how she doesn't say a thing for the first half of the movie, this kind of gives you the idea that she can't speak. The moments between Logan, Xavier and Laura are actually quite fun for some time, the roadtrip is actually showing that the movie isn't trying to be too serious. The trailers also barely showed you the villain(s) in the movie, which is also quite refreshing because that usually gets spoiled in trailers. It's only later in the movie you find out who they are and what they want.

Is it worth checking out this movie?

Absolutely! Of all the Wolverine movies this is the one you should see, not that the other two are terrible but compared to Logan you could call them that. Just keep in mind that this isn't a real super hero movie, I mean there are no costumes or typical villain that the hero must fight. I don't think I would even call Logan a super hero, but he's trying to be a good guy and eventhough life seems to take a dump on him he somehow finds a way to move forward. I think Logan is a very good movie and I can definitely recommend it to you!
