Do you really need/want Project Scorpio?

You've probably heard by now that Project Scorpio is coming, if I'm not mistaken at the end of 2017. That's pretty close and in my opinion it's too early. I have my Xbox One now for about two and a half years and here comes the next console already. I don't know about you but I think that's too early! So this raises the question for me, do you really need/want Project Scorpio?

Project Scorpio is a pimped Xbox One?

I don't think you would give the new console enough credit if this is how you describe it. But you're not completely wrong, Project Scorpio is a type of Xbox One (you can play Xbox One and even Xbox 360 games on it) but this version is a lot more powerful and will be capable of a lot more than the standard Xbox One. But this takes me back to the question in the title, do you really need Project Scorpio and then I would have to answer no. Why? Because eventhough you get a big boost in graphics and performance it's not like I expect any games coming out that are exclusive to Project Scorpio. So you can play games like Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption on your Xbox One. Which means that if you don't want to invest a lot of money in a new console then you don't have to. Sure people with Project Scorpio will have games with the best graphics and with top performance but if all you care about is having fun then you don't need that!

Project Scorpio is for the die hard gamers?

If with die hard gamers you mean people that consider gaming as their life and put every little bit of money they have into gaming then that's probably true. But it doesn't mean that a casual gamer can't be excited for Project Scorpio. Just keep in mind that it will be an expensive console and you also need a 4K tv, those aren't cheap either. The real question is if you're willing to put that much money into a hobby when you already have a console that's working just fine? I don't know about you but I don't feel like making the switch just yet. Sure I play a lot of games and I put a lot of hours into gaming, but I have no problems with my tv and Xbox One. So why would I want to trade those in for a console that plays the same games but with better graphics and has a better performance? Plus I'll need to buy a 4K tv just to be able to play games on this new console. I love playing games but I think this is just ridiculous, so quickly after the launch of the Xbox One and that this new console turns out to be an upgraded Xbox One is just not enough reason for me to make the jump to Project Scorpio. I know that there are a lot of people that are excited and maybe this new console is more for professional gamers or die hard gaming fans that have a lot of money to spend on this. I on the other hand don't have that and as long as my Xbox One is working just fine and the games keep coming also for the Xbox One then I don't see a reason to switch. That doesn't mean that Project Scorpio is a waste of money, but I just don't value amazing graphics as much as some people.
