Agents of Mayhem isn't Saints Row V?
I think a lot of people wanted it to be but Agents of Mayhem is more like a spin off, a game inspired by the wacky Saints Row universe, and it definitely looks interesting! I can already hear the haters complain how unrealistic this is and how far this game is from the first two Saints Row games. But if you can appreciate the game for what it is, a fun third person shooter, then this might actually be something you would interested in playing!
Stop comparing Agents of Mayhem with Saints Row?
The things I keep hearing just make my ears bleed, not out of frustration but more because I can't stand hearing such stupidity. I mean some people even compare Agents of Mayhem with Overwatch, oh yes exactly the same game... But seriously Agents of Mayhem might take place in the same universe as Saints Row but it's a different game, this has some benefits but at the same time I also have some complaints about this. What I always love about Saints Row games is the character customization, you could create your own character and go as crazy as you want. In Agents of Mayhem you pick one of 12 existing characters, there is some character customization but I don't think you have as much freedom as you had in the Saints Row games. That doesn't make Agents of Mayhem a bad game, it just means that some people will be disappointed. You can still wreck the town with all the crazy weapons and gadgets.
You play as three different characters?
You select three out of twelve agents for you team to go on a mission, during the mission you can switch between these three agents. This way you can combine powers or tactics and take down even the toughest bosses. I must admit that I'm surprised that the developers went for a single player approach here because these days it's mostly multiplayer when you introduce this type of gameplay. I've seen some weird characters like the big pirate, the roller skating chick with the mini gun, the Hollywood actor and a Navy SEAL that uses some brutal action. This is just a taste of what you can expect, I also noticed a woman with a bow and a scoundrel that is probably for the quick stab and jab actions. The game starts with twelve characters but maybe in dlc you can expect more, so I doubt that is going to be boring and there should be a character for you that you really like. But the trick is to find a team of three that is best suited for the mission, so sometimes that means switching to other agents and who knows maybe those are just as fun as you favourite.
Is this game worth checking out?
Well it's going to take some time before it's released but in August you should be able to play it, at least if I have to believe the latest news. I think that the game looks like a lot of fun to play, nothing too serious and just mindless action. That's exactly what you need to blow off some steam or just enjoy yourself after a long day of school or work. I don't even know if the story will be amazing but so far it definitely looks interesting. I think Agents of Mayhem is the type of game for gamers who don't take things too seriously and like some crazy fun, if that's you then this game might actually be something for you!
