Why do some games get special treatment when it comes to bugs/glitches?
I don't think there are a lot of people that like bugs and glitches in their game. Sure Goat simulator gives you a lot of fun with that but in your standard game you don't want that. But it seems that some games are punished harder for that than others. Is that fair and why does that happen? Let's find out!
Why do gamers accept certain games eventhough they're full of bugs/glitches?
It's weird but speaking from experience I can say that certain games are just so popular and have so many fans that they play the game anyway. Mass Effect Andromeda is a good example of that, because eventhough the game has a lot of bugs and glitches (the patch has fixed a lot of thing but not everything) it still sold a lot of copies and a lot of fans are happy with the game. If this would be a completely new game then it would've been most likely a completely different story. New games still have to prove themselves and if things don't look good then people aren't going to be interested. Mass Effect Andromeda is a new game but the previous Mass Effect trilogy has already introduced you to the Mass Effect universe and the fans already know what to expect and probably want to continue their adventures in the Mass Effect universe. A completely new game will first have to prove itself before people will like it and want to invest in that, if there are bugs and glitches in that game then it will be that much harder.
Even with bugs/glitches a game can be succesful?
Sure, it's possible but it definitely helps if you get a patch for a game that has a lot of bugs and glitches. I wasn't interested in playing Assassin's Creed Unity for quite some time, after almost nine months I finally bought it for a big discount and when I knew that a lot of the bugs and glitches were gone. But at the same time I've also played games that suffered greatly under bugs and glitches, up to the point where I could barely play them. Vampire Bloodlines: the Masquerade is a good example of that. When that game just came out I bought it and I really enjoyed playing it, but the bugs and glitches in that game made it difficult to play it at times. But if you really want to play the game and it's possible to play a game then you will play it, even if there are a lot of bugs and glitches. You try to deal with what you can but just hope that things will be fixed sooner or later. It's not a dumb idea to wait with certain games, you wait until they're fixed or at least better and you don't have to deal with a lot of bugs and glitches. A friend of mine did that with Mass Effect Andromeda and now she has a fun experience with the game, at least a better one than I had. Not that I hated it but there were moments in the game I wasn't happy with. I guess being patient with these things really works out for some people.
