Xboxlive clubs, does it really work?

Several months ago we got something new on Xboxlive, clubs. Ok so far that doesn't sound interesting but this is a way for you to meet other people that play the same games as you and you can team up. Now this does sound interesting, but I can't help but wonder how well this system works. Do people actually team up with other people or are they just a member of a club and still end up having no one to team up with?

Too many clubs?

There are a lot of clubs, but too many? What is too many? If with too many you mean that there are more clubs then there are achievements in most games then you're probably right. When I look at a popular game like Overwatch I don't think we need a hundred clubs for this game, but looking at the most popular clubs I can see how some people hesitate to join a club that has thousands of members. I doubt you will have a lot of luck finding people there to team up with. Even if three out of every ten players would find a team in these clubs then there are still seven out of ten players that don't find a team. Is that the fault of the clubs? It's easy to say yes but sometimes the fault is also with the players. Especially when you look at the looking for a group section.

Looking for a group is full of morons?

That's a bit harsh but I can see why some people think that they're morons. Yesterday I saw almost twenty posts in a row all asking to team up in Overwatch, they all ask for the same specifics (need to be good, need to use a mic, no toxic players, etc.) and yet no one seems to respond to other group requests. So one guy wants a group, he asks for a group but when someone below him asks also for a group these two people can't seem to be bothered to team up. It's as if they want other people to join their group and not the other way around. This is how you get almost twenty people all looking for the same type of group and all refusing to join up with eachother. Yeah I can see how some people think that these people are morons. Of course it's easy to judge, would you do it differently? It depends, do I feel comfortable joining the group of a random person? Probably not, especially when I look at the looking for a group section for the game W2K17. Two people are actually using that section to make posts about how much the other players sucks. So one player is accused of being a racist while the other is accused of being a rage quitting baby. Yeah I totally want to join these groups...

Do Xboxlive clubs help you find a team and friends?

I think that some people actually do find a team and friends but a lot of people don't. It's probably because no matter how well you try to make something work it is still an obstacle for some people. For example some people have issues walking into a store when the door is closed because somehow they find it a challenge to open the door and walk inside, so you can imagine how some people have issues joining a club when they have to wait for approval. The obstacle is too big for them and they'd rather not do it, perhaps out of fear of rejection. Some clubs do try to be more inviting, they don't put too many obstacles in the way and give you a friendly welcome when you join. I know that these clubs aren't for everyone, some people are just very uncomfortable with these type of situations but when you play games on your own every night and end up in the solo queue every time you play a multiplayer game then I can imagine that you wouldn't mind finding some people to play with. So it does pay off sometimes to join a club, see what happens and of course don't forget to be a bit social and active yourself. Don't expect people to come to you just because you made a post or because you joined a club. If a club really isn't working out for you then you can always leave and try your luck in another club.
