Online game worlds are a good way to meet men and women?

My first online game world was in Guild Wars Factions, in the big monastery you could find hundreds of people running around or just standing somewhere. It's the meeting place for people that want to team up, want to show off their new gear or just want to talk with other people. I also met a lot of people there, at that time I was actually quite social and there were no barriers for me. I would talk to anyone I saw, something that isn't so natural to me anymore. But the point is that these areas in games allow you to meet up with other people for whatever reason.

Making friends in games?

When you play a mmorpg then it's easy to meet up with other people, but that doesn't automaticly make you friends. Sometimes they first want to see you in action, for example you play a couple of missions with them or go on a raid or something like that. You can also meet up in a multiplayer lobby, if you and someone else are both social and not being douchebags to one another then it's not that difficult to become friends. It does help when you're succesful with this other person, I mean no matter how much fun it is to talk with someone if that person is absolutely terrible at the game then you're less likely interested in teaming up with that person again. Unless you don't care if you win or lose, but I think most people in competitive multiplayer prefer to win.

Can you become more than friends?

Anything is possible, but I wouldn't make that a priority or consider that an option from the start. Just because you meet a girl and you have fun playing games with her doesn't mean that she's interested in being more than just friends. She might already have a boyfriend, isn't interested in dating you or perhaps she's not into guys. There are several reasons why she wouldn't want to date you and I think it's important that you first get to know someone before you would even bring that up. I've heard several times that girls sometimes get messages where people send them dirty messages, often sexual provocative messages, and I doubt most of these girls like getting these type of messages when they just want to have fun playing a game. If you really are looking for a date then go to a dating site or you could try your luck in an online virtual world like Second Life where you can meet up with thousands of other people and who knows maybe there is someone special there for you. When you play games then I would advice you to stick to keeping it friendly unless you get clear signals that the other person is interested in you. Get to know someone first and see where it goes.
