Batman: A Telltale Games Series

Let me immediately say that I really like this game! Ok it's not your typical Batman game and it feels a bit weird playing this game after the four Batman Arkham games, but this Batman game really stands firm and proud among those games with its own unique way of playing. It might not be for everyone but I would really encourage you to try this game because it's a lot of fun!

You play as Batman and Bruce Wayne?

Well it's a bit of a trick question because Bruce Wayne is Batman, oops massive spoiler! But to be serious here you do play as Bruce Wayne in this game as well and you also get to play as his alter ego Batman. It's about a 50/50 split which seems to work well. As Bruce you won't really be fighting crime, but more the injustice in Gotham City and supporting your friend Harvey Dent who wants to be the new mayor. As Batman you try to stop Carmine Falcone and meet up with Catwoman who is a very interesting character in this game. As Bruce Wayne you don't just go for talking but have your own moments of fighting and investigating. But you probably are more interested in playing as Batman and I don't blame you, but don't underestimate the Bruce Wayne parts in the game because it really adds something good to the story. As Batman you do have the fight scenes, you also do some investigating and you can even plan your attack by selecting with a drone how you're going to take care of criminals guarding a douchebag (not spoiling anything there). So it might not be the fluent action you know from the Batman Arkham games but this is still fun and it adds a lot of story you can dive into and of course make decisions that will have a big impact on the rest of the story. For example the way you treat for example Catwoman will affect how she'll respond to you next time, the same counts for the guests on the party of Bruce Wayne. You can be an asshole, you can be funny or maybe you're more of the recluse that tries to avoid people as much as possible. I really enjoyed playing in both Bruce Wayne parts of the game as in the Batman parts of the game.

What makes this game so good?

With Telltale Games it's easy to say that it's the story and this time it's not different, the story is great and the character (as well as you might know some of them) will often surprise you and make you think before you give your answer. I had a lot of fun with the Catwoman/Selina Kyle moments, because at one moment she seems nice and the other moments she's ready to slash your face open with her claws. But there are many more interesting characters, some you might recognize and others you might not. I'm really curious what happens in episode 2 and how the characters will respond to my decisions. It seems silly but you sometimes feel like you made a mistake but as much as you might want to change that you also kind of want to see where this decisions leads you. Your decisions will play a big role and you should be careful what you choose to say or do, it will affect both your life as Bruce Wayne and your life as Batman.
