Being judged by other gamers
Have you ever played a multiplayer game and had to deal with douchebags that judged you? These people look at your level, look at the class or character you play as and will probably look at the amount of time you've played the game (for as far they can see that) and will often judge you on that. Oh you only played two hours as Genji in Overwatch? Well then you have to be terrible! Sure...
Don't judge a book by its cover?
If there's one thing you should know is that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, people can really surprise you and then you were that douchebag that talks shit about someone and was completely wrong. Of course you can have your thoughts about someone, but to actually mention these thoughts to other players in the chat is just rude and makes you look like a douchebag. Because if you've never played with that person before then what do you know about his or her skills? Maybe someone is a natural or maybe someone is a quick learner. There is of course a big chance that someone will be less good as a character he or she hasn't played a lot but it's rude to already assume this and mention it to this person. Maybe for certain situations other characters or classes might be a better choice but to already judge someone before the match has even started is just dumb.
Gender and sexuality also affects your skill?
This is what some douchebags believe, as if women are worse than men at games. I've seen women kick ass online and maybe not everyone is amazing at a game but the most important thing is that you're having fun and if you being a douchebag to other people is having fun then you're a moron. Sometimes people also get picked on for being different, when someone is gay or transgender for example. Apparently you're not even allowed to play games or exist for that matter if I have to believe some people. Once again these idiots will judge them for who they are and that makes them the problem and not the person who they judge. We can't all be amazing at games and I don't think that's important, it's important that you're having fun and maybe even make some new friends. Isn't that what gaming should be all about?
What to do when people judge you?
Just ignore them, there is this great option in most games to mute other players and block them. This way you don't have to hear what they say and don't have to be bothered by hateful messages. Wasting any time on douchebags is just not worth it. I doubt you can change their mind and I think you would rather just enjoy playing a game than wasting it on some loser who has nothing better to do with his or her life. It's rough though to deal with all that negativity when you just try to enjoy playing a game, I guess it's the risk of playing online with strangers. Not everyone is going to be friendly and not everyone is going to be helpful. But don't let that keep you from playing games online, you have every right to play online games and don't let some douchebags keep you from doing that!
