Fallout 4 Nuka World dlc, this is the best dlc?
After reading so many people whining about Far Harbor dlc in Fallout 4 it won't surprise that there will be haters for Nuka World dlc as well, but don't let that stop you from checking this dlc out! It's actually a lot of fun and gives you a lot of stuff to do! It also puts you on the other side the Fallout universe, not literally but when it comes to the factions. You see in most Fallout games raiders attack you on sight, but in this dlc you become the overboss (that's how they call their leader) and lead three different factions in Nuka World, a pre-war amusement park with the Nuka cola theme running wild in it.
What makes this dlc so much fun?
First of all you're leading three different raider groups, that's fun and gives you something to mess around with. You can do missions for these raider groups or capture more parts of the amusement park and give this to the raider groups which will make the raider group that gets it more loyal to you while the others will become more envious. I haven't gone too far in the story and that's probably a good thing because I don't want to spoil anything! You also get new enemies, new Nuka Cola drinks that you can mix yourself or find them all over the park, new outfits (the Nuka Cola girl outfit is pretty cool for a female companion or if you play as a female character for yourself) and new things to do. What I personally like about this dlc is exploring the new areas, in the amusement park it's really fun to check out the new areas, and participating in a lot of activities. For example you have an arcade hall where you can earn tickets with games to buy interesting prizes and there are also rides you can sit in. There is so much you can do and find out, which is really interesting because that keeps you busy instead of just breezing through the dlc in a couple of hours. You can set up raider camps and expand your power but playing raider boss....eh overboss does means you piss off a lot of people.
It's not all good?
What I don't like is how some raider faction missions take you to a settlement and you have to collar someone (which makes them a slave to that faction) or kill someone. Even when you do this behind closed doors and with stealth (which means you're hidden and have a silenced weapon) the people in the settlement know immediately what you have done and will attack you. What's worse is that this aggro spreads to your own settlement as well, for example I had to escape Goodneighbour because somehow the people there found out I was the one who put a collar on someone (I did this behind closed doors with no one spotting me and I convinced him to wear it so there was no violence) and the whole town tried to kill me, I barely escaped and made it to Sanctuary and there everyone attacked me as well. I must admit that this sucks, because if these faction missions are broken (as in you always get spotted wether they actually see you doing something bad or not) then that isn't something you want to do. Mostly because it really sucks when everyone is mad at you and tries to kill you because it will also turn your companions against you, only the most loyal (people with whom you got the highest level of friendship or relationship) won't attack you but they will keep hating you when you try to defend yourself. I really want this to be fixed because it ruins the dlc at this point, so you either don't do raider faction missions or risk getting a lot of hostile attention!
Is this dlc worth checking out?
I think it is, mostly because it gives you new things to do and proves a challenge for experienced players. I think the minimum level to acces Nuka World is level 30 but I'm level 69 and at certain parts it's still a challenge! There are a lot of enemies and some will attack you viciously, so be prepared for some tough fights and stock up a lot of ammo for powerful weapons and bring a lot of stimpacks! I haven't finished the dlc yet so I can't truly say it's all worth it, because I can't judge something I haven't played yet, but what I played so far is a lot of fun and perhaps a bit difficult and frustrating at times but definitely worth it! Just come prepared and be careful, that should keep you alive and if it doesn't then I hope you save a lot!
