Fallout 4 Vault-Tec dlc, building your own vault
I've heard from several people how disappointed they are in Fallout 4 dlc, I bet most of them are disappointed because a lot of the dlc is new stuff in the building menu. This probably doesn't sound very exciting but I think that the Vault-Tec dlc is interesting because it allows you to build your own vault underground and also build some sick experiments that can help people or destroy them and of course you can get people in the vault that you can dress as real vault dwellers. Sounds cool, but is it cool? I think it is!
Building your own vault?
You don't actually have a world creator where you can dig a whole in the ground, this has already been done for you and also the entrance has been build for you. But then you have to clear the area underground that is full with monsters, rubble and junk. If you manage to get rid of all that then the real challenge starts, building your vault. This might seems simple but there are a lot of options and the are underground is huge! I really mean huge! Just the first room where you meet the old overseer is already big enough to build a lot of stuff and then there are at least five more areas that are that big connected with tunnels and you can build almost everywhere! You can make a very detailed vault with all the things you would see in another vault. For example instead of normal consoles you have vault consoles, instead of your standard bed you have a bed you find in a vault and you can even put up posters you would see in other vaults. But you can also build floors, walls and doors that belong in vaults. Of course you can do your own thing so if you want to make a vault made out of wood you can do that, but I bet a lot of people prefer to build a vault with the new vault build materials.
It's just building?
No, you also get some missions. Which is cool because that helps you earn some new experience and you can also do several interesting experiments on some volunteers. The missions don't take a lot of time and aren't really that difficult, but you probably want to be at least level 30 to deal with some of the legendary enemies deeper in the caves underground. What makes this dlc the most fun are the tests, you know those sick and twisted tests the Vault-Tec personel come up with in every vault. Well in Vault 88, the vault you can design yourself, there isn't just one experiment but a total of four and you can run those experiments yourself. Which means you can decide to be a sick bastard or actually a helpful guy or girl. The volunteers will respond to those experiments and if you put them through too many bad ones, you know the type where they're harmed, they will leave. So try to find a balance in helping and trying out some sick and twisted stuff. I won't spoil what the experiments are but it's quite interesting to see different outcomes!
Is it worth getting this dlc?
I think it is, eventhough the dlc is pretty short though. I mean you probably get all achievements/trophies (a total of 3) within 15 minutes once you're inside the vault so that's good for achievement/trophy hunters. The story isn't over though, you can still run experiments after you get all achievements/trophies. What I really like about this dlc is building your own vault and working with the experiments, this allows you to be creative and make something interesting or just be practical and build evertything in the same area and get it over with as soon as possible. Whatever you way of playing is I'm certain it will work out for you. It's a shame that the dlc isn't that big but I expect Nuka world dlc to take care of that problem by giving you a lot more stuff to do!
