Youtube adventures part 4
When you have a channel on youtube and you upload videos on your channel then it's only a matter of time until someone else will notice that, maybe some people have more luck with that then others but eventually people will watch some videos. You don't know if they're going to like it but as long as you had fun making the videos then it can't be that bad! It's nice when people watch your videos and like them, but sometimes you also attract other youtubers with your videos and some of them will offer you to subscribe to you if you subscribe to them. You could call that a trade, which seems innocent but in truth it's a trick some youtubers use to let their channel grow more than it would all by itself.
Unwanted attention.
Wether you like it or not some people will make an offer to you to subscribe to you if you subscribe to them, I think small channels are a pretty popular target for these people because they think that people with a small youtube channel will be easier to persuade than people with a big youtube channel. People that make you this offer usually don't have a lot of subscribers themselves, so in a way you might feel some sympathy for their request.
I actually agreed once to such a request, a guy contacted me and said he liked my videos and also mentioned how he makes pretty much the same type of videos. In that time I made a lot of CoD and Destiny multiplayer videos, so he probably thought that's all I did. He made the offer to subscribe to me and check out some of my videos if I subscribed to him and checked out some of his videos. Let me immediately mention that I didn't do it to get another subscriber, I thought he was a nice guy and I didn't mind helping him out. But after a couple of weeks I noticed that he unsubscribed and didn't mention a thing, as in I was just one of many people he had contacted and had no real interest in my videos.
It didn't bother me that he didn't really want to subscribe to me or that he never really liked my videos but the fact that he lied about that just to get me to subscribe to him, that's what really annoyed me! Usually cheap tricks like that to get more subscribers is lame and I don't think you even deserve to get succes with your channel if that's how you treat subscribers. It made sense that I didn't want anything to do with this guy anymore and made certain I wasn't subscribed to this guy either.
So if someone offers you to subscribe to your channel if you subscribe to their channel then you can just ignore that message, they send this message to a lot of people and don't really care about your youtube channel. Maybe there are some good people out there that do care, but there's a big group out there that just want to score as many subscribers as they can. This isn't the type of attention you want and it's best to ignore them!
