Sinful Sunday: Female agression?
Online you might expect that guys are often the agressors and I think in most situations you would be right, but if you think that only guys are agressive then you're mistaken! Sometimes women can be agressive or at least hostile towards you as well, maybe some have their reasons for that but I think it's safe to say that some people are just assholes and that's not specified to one gender!
Female gamers are agressive?
Does that really surprise you? If you think that women don't get mad or are always polite then you're living in a dream world, because women can get mad just as easy as men. But I think for some guys it may come as a surprise, because some guys are still surprised when they see or hear a girl in a game and that she also gets mad is almost impossible to some people. That probably says more about that guy than the girl but it still comes down to the fact that women can be hostile in games. I'm not talking about that female friend you have that punches you if you make a joke about women but really about women online that are complete utter douchebags and not fun to play games with. I must admit that I haven't encountered a lot of hostile women online, mostly because most women online don't talk in random lobbies (sometimes for a good reason) so at that time you don't even realize that you're playing with or against a woman, and those that I have played with or against aren't really that bad. Oh sure some women love to tease you, for example in CoD where some women have a calling card (which shows up if a player kills you) that says: you've been beaten by a girl. I laugh at that and I don't mind that at all. But there are also women that are very defensive, so the moment you want to give them advice they take offense in you trying to help them and will respond hostile towards you. For example in Rainbow Six Siege I heard a guy tell a female player that she should put some jammers (she played as Mute) next to a reinforced walls so Thermite (who can break through reinforced walls) can't break through them, she didn't like that he told her how to play as that class and gave him shit for that. I don't know the guy and I don't know the girl but I think that the guy was just trying to help, so giving him shit for that is just uncalled for. But this was just one situation, I'm not saying that women are evil or that they are scumbags in games but I would like to say that women aren't saints and you shouldn't be surprised if a woman turns out to be less nice in a game. We're all just people playing games, some of us are nice and some of us are assholes. I don't think gender plays a big role there.
Why are some female gamers agressive?
You could ask the same about male gamers, why are they agressive? Sometimes people just had a bad day and that doesn't always lead to a happy experience in a game, especially if you play with random people. But I think that some people are just assholes, no matter what gender they have! I would like to add that some women do get a lot of bullshit from other people, so maybe some women are a bit sensitive when dealing with certain comments. It's easy to respond hostile thinking that it's another douchebag that has a problem with female gamers, but some people are just trying to help and don't care if you're a man or a woman. It's about having fun playing a game together, why else would you want to play online multiplayer with random people? I can understand that some women are sick and tired of people telling them they shouldn't play games or how much they suck (some people say even worse things than that) and it's easy to lash out at people the moment someone makes a remark at you, but we're not all bad and some guys are actually trying to help. It's always a risk when you play online with random people, you never know what you'll get and a bad experience can really ruin the fun for you to play online. But don't get discouraged, because even if there are thousands of douchebags online there are also thousands of friendly people online that are fun to play with. I guess you just need to get lucky to find these friendly people...
