Giving your old games away?
I did something good this year, oh I don't need praise but I thought it would be interesting to talk about it. I still have some old consoles and games but I never play on those consoles, so I could just keep them in my closet gathering dust or I could do something with them. So I decided to give them to a charity that gives these consoles and games to families who don't have that much money to spend and can't afford consoles and games. This way kids who don't get a lot of presents in a year still have a chance to play some games. It's not that you need to play games but it's nice if you can.
Why would you give your old console and games away?
Why not? If you don't use that console anymore then the console and the games for that console are just wasting away, isn't it better to give them a new home? I know that some people would rather try to sell them and I understand that as well, because with the money you earn from your old console and games you could buy a new console and games. I'm just saying that there is another option for you to do something else with your old console and games. I know that consoles and games are expensive and it might seem a bit weird to just give them away, but think about how that console and games can make kids happy that have never played on a console and can't afford buying a console and games. Giving away your console and games might not get you money, but you do get gratitude and I think that's also worth something!
Are people interested in old consoles and games?
Of course, I mean a game is a game and maybe it's not as fancy as the latest games but it's still fun to play the old games. As long as your console still works, giving away a broken console is lame, then I'm certain that you can make someone happy with that. There are kids who have never played games on a console or computer for that matter, so if you can help them with that then that's a good thing. I'm not saying that this makes you a saint or anything but it feels good to help other people and it's not a big thing to give someone something you never use. Because why would you hold on to something that you never use? I was wondering the same and I couldn't think of anything, oh sure I had fond memories of playing games on those consoles and I love playing those games but I haven't used those console for more than ten years and I think it's safe to say that it's better that someone else gets those consoles and plays with them than to keep them in a box and you never play on those consoles again.
But what if you don't want to give your old games away?
Well nobody forces you, I'm not saying that you have to give away your old games or that you're a bad person if you hold on to something you never use anymore. I understand the value of something and the memories you might have playing on a computer or console are enough to hold on to it, maybe you want to keep them for your own kids one day and that makes sense to me. But maybe some people never thought about their old consoles or games and what to do with them, then it's a good idea to do something useful with them instead of keeping them locked up in a box and never using them.
