Sinful Sunday: Team killing

It's an interesting option in a game, the ability to kill your own team members. But why would you do it? It doesn't help you nor your team, so what's the point of killing people in your own team? I guess the simple answer is that people just do it to annoy other people, because they like to be an asshole in a game and try to make other people mad or just sabotage a mission and make the team lose. I personally don't see the fun in that but I guess you need to be a sad sack of shit to actually enjoy that!

Why is there a need to kill people on your team?

I think there are multiple reasons. First of all it could be an accident, not everyone that kills someone on their team meant to do that, sometimes it just happens when you shoot an enemy and a team member walks into your line of fire. It's not like you can stop the bullets in the middle of the air! Some people are just curious, can I kill someone on my team and if I can how will others respond to that? I wouldn't recommend this but I know some people think it's worth checking out, eventhough this can lead to a lot of frustration and anger. The worst type of team killers are the ones that do it on purpose just to annoy other people, there doesn't even have to be a real reason. Some people just do it because they can do it. This can make other people mad and make them want to have revenge and shoot the team killer. So that might lead to a lot of team killing and there isn't a real winner there. Oh wait there is, it's the other team. I can understand that you're sometimes frustrated, but shooting your team members doesn't help you nor the team and it only leads to more frustration and anger. So if you're pissed off you might want to take a break instead of staying in a game.

What's so funny about team killing?

If it's just between friends then I can see the fun in it, you're just messing around and your friends (hopefully) know that you're just messing around. But with strangers it can often be seen as a hostile act and I don't think people will appreciate that! Maybe you meant well but don't expect people to be happy with that, especially if you only have one life each round. Then you can expect a lot of anger and you might even be kicked from the game. Unfortunately there are people out there that don't care, they don't play games for fun but they usually play games to annoy others. These sad sacks of shit find it funny to see others get mad and will do whatever they can to make others mad. Wether it's for a video or just for their own amusement, it doesn't change the fact that they're sad!

Will the team killing ever stop?

As long as you can kill your own team members in a game there will always be team killers, which kind of makes you want to leave that option out of a game eventhough it does add some more realism and intensity to a game. For example in Rainbow Six Siege it becomes even more important that you aim carefully because you can easily kill your team members if you're not careful, this brings more tactics and excitement to the table. Unfortunately it also brings more frustration and sad sacks of shit to that game, I guess you can't have one without the other...
