Sinful Sunday: Not playing the objective in a team
I there's one thing that annoys me in online multiplayer its people that don't play the objective, for example someone that camps in a corner of the map in domination and does nothing to capture or hold points. The biggest chance to get people like that is with random players, especially when there is no communication and people kind of do what they want. Which is fine if they hang around the objective and help out whenever they can but unfortunately some people play their own game within the game.
Why play an objective based team game when you do nothing with the team?
From my experience its usually players that want to boost their kills, especially in domination where people can get a ridiculous amount of kills without reaching a limit. So don't be surprised to see people just sit somewhere racking up kills and do nothing to capture or hold points. Perhaps you think that they help in their own way, but after some time the other team just avoids the camper and does play the objective, you can imagine that this usually results in a loss for your team. But there are also players out there that like to mess with other players, in Halo some people like to do some team killing because they think it's fun or they want the power weapon that he or she is holding. I don't think I have to mention how much that sucks and how much you would hate someone like that, unfortunately you'll see it happen sometimes in random online teams.
Can one person really bring down a team?
Absolutely! Because one person less in your team that participates is one less gun that can distract or kill other players in the field, then there are also players that leave whenever they encounter people in their team that don't help out because they think they're not going to win with someone like that in their team. The same can be said about teams where no one communicates, that's also enough for some people to leave. I probably make it sound like gamers are sensitive assholes that leave at the first sign of trouble, eventhough this doesn't count for everyone there are a lot of people out there that are the type that rage quit for silly reasons like I just mentioned. So one person doesn't have to be the undoing on your team, but don't be surprised if it does happen!
What do you do with someone that doesn't participate in the team objective?
If it's possible you could kick this player, but you could first try to communicate with this person and try to get him or her to play with the team. That doesn't mean this person has to be sitting right next to you but at least play for the objective because losing everytime because your team doesn't play for het objective gets old real fast! If you can't kick this player and he or she doesn't respond when you try to communicate with this person then you can just leave a negative rating and hope you're not going to be teamed up with the person in another match. It's lame that you can't do more but if you play with random people online then sometimes you meet some of the bad people out there, I guess that can't be helped...
