Halo 5: Guardians (multiplayer)

Yesterday I spend quite some time in multiplayer, but then somehow last night I couldn't get into multiplayer anymore so unfortunately my multiplayer description is going to be a bit less detailed. My apologies but I guess you have to work with what you have and unfortunately that's not as much as I was hoping for. With that being said, let's talk about some Halo 5 multiplayer!

Warzone or arena?

The first thing you have to decide is if you want to play warzone or arena, because there is a big difference in both multiplayer modes! Warzone is a big multiplayer map where you and your team have to complete objectives, for example capture points or beat NPCs on the map, while also facing another team of players that goes for the same objectives. This creates a big adventure for you and your team, what's really fun is that everything is there. So the vehicles, the requisition drops (weapons, vehicles or boosts) and freedom you want in multiplayer are there. But if you hate the big maps and prefer the small arena gameplay then arena is more for you. This is where two teams of four face eachother on a small map and everyone starts with the same weapons. Depending on the map you'll see certain power weapons appear every now and then, so on one map it can be a rocket launcher and on another map it's a sniper rifle. You'll also find other useful weapons like the DMR and battle rifle. These can make the difference in a fight and you can expect that most players will run towards the power weapons first to get some quick kills. But it's really teamwork that can get you the victory, because running around on your own can be dangerous!

What are requisition packs exactly?

Whenever you play Halo 5 multiplayer you can earn points that help you unlock requisition packs, in these packs you find useful items that can help you in warzone or help customize your character. You can get gold packs for 10.000 points, silver packs for 5.000 points and bronze packs for 1.250 points. You can also use real money to buy gold and silver packs, but I wouldn't recommend that, you can earn your points quite fast. I earned up to 10.000 after three to four matches, I must admit that I did pretty good in those matches though, so it's not a real grind to get good stuff eventhough the packs are completely random so the things you get can be of both good and bad quality. But the higher quality your pack is, with gold being the best, the better chance and guarantee you have to get high quality stuff. Because in a gold pack there are at least two high quality items while in a bronze pack there are no high quality items. With the rewards in these packs you can order weapons, vehicles and boosts during a warzone map or you can activate a boost before a warzone or arena match for extra experience. They're useful but completely optional, you don't have to use it but you'll miss out on a lot of good stuff (also character customization options) if you do ignore the requisition packs!

Is multiplayer good in Halo 5?

Well I haven't spend a lot of time in Halo 5 multiplayer to be very detailed with my opinion, because I simply haven't even been able to play all the modes in arena yet. Sure slayer is fun and in the warzone mode I had a lot of fun but there's of course more. In arena mode you also have capture the flag, SWAT and breakthrough (where every player has one life in a round and the last team/person standing wins). The matches are fast but unfortunately they can also be slow sometimes, you know when one team camps and the other team doesn't feel like running towards them. Especially in warzone this can be annoying, the maps are too big for this type of nonsense. I also saw teams with the camping strategy in arena but because the maps are a lot smaller it's easier to deal with that, but it's still quite annoying! I didn't see people use the special abilities (shoulder charge, spartan smash from the air) that much, I guess everyone still has to get used to all that and prefer to trust in what they do know. It's definitely a fun game but I really hope multiplayer is going to be good from now on because it sucks when you can't even play it like last night, that was annoying and if this happens more often then I know I'm going to move on to the next game. Because no matter how much fun a game is, when a game doesn't work or doesn't work correctly then you're done with it a lot faster!
