Games set you free?
Some people believe that gamers are people locked up in their parents' basement and play games all day, eventhough this might count for some people it's definitely not the majority of gamers out there. Sure there are examples out there of people that play games all day, but for some it's an escape of real life and that can be liberating too!
What kind of freedom do games give you?
People that are shy can be more talkative online, unfortunately this counts for everyone and that means you often hear people be less friendly online than when you meet them in real life. But that doesn't count for everyone, some people are the leader of a clan our guild online while in the offline world they're not that talkative. The thing is that games can bring people to life, sometimes that's in a fantasy world and others in a more realistic world. Games reach people that aren't always that active in real life, some of them lead lives away from others and don't really communicate with others. But then online they find a place to voice out opinions or show others their creative work in the form of maps or even worlds they created. That's the type of freedom the real world doesn't really offer you, at least not as much as in the online world.
Isn't it unhealthy to spend so much time online?
Of course it's not healthy to spend a lot of time online, which is why I would like to add that it's good to have a life offline as well. Ok maybe it's not as exciting as your online life but if only one of the two is exciting then that's already more than some people have and I think that's not a bad thing to have. The most important thing you have to think about is not losing yourself in your online world, there's a real world out there and you can't ignore that forever. Even if you're only happy in the online world there's a real world that needs your attention as well, wether that's because of friends and family or because of school and/or work. Don't ignore the real world, but it's ok to seek shelter every now and then in the online world.
