Life is strange
Life is strange is one of those games I heard about but somehow never played, until now and I must say that I was blown away! Sure there are no big action scenes and yes there's drama, but it's an amazing story that pulls you into a world where things can change. It's a game that's released in five episodes and you can buy and play the first four episodes now and episode five will come out soon (if I have to believe the message on the screen of the game).
Mad Max?
No it's not the Australian survivor from the movies and game, this Max is a girl going through some tough times at school in Arcadia Bay. You start the game when she has a nightmare where a tornado destroys the town where she lives, then you wake up in class and realize it was just a dream or was it? Shortly after that you discover you have the ability to rewind time, which helps you make a different choice and help people you couldn't help before. This creates a unique gameplay method that gives you different choices and the world is affected by your choices. Sometimes in a small way and sometimes in a very big way!
What is the butterfly effect?
If you saw the movie, the butterfly effect is a fantastic movie and I can definitely recommend it to you, then you probably know already but let me try to explain it to you in case you don't know. The butterfly effects is where the flap of the wing of a butterfly on one side of the world can create a tornado on the other side of the world. In other words a small action can have great consequences, so change one thing and that could change everything. This is something that Max will find out as well, as she is meddling with time she finds out that this has an effect on people around her and also on herself. But you want to learn more about your powers, you want to discover what happened to the missing girl at school (Rachel Amber) and what's going on in the Vortex club (a place where some bad things happened to some students). Thanks to your powers you have the unique ability to figure things out and hopefully get to the bottom of all the mysteries in Arcadia Bay.
Intense but fun?
Life is strange can be intense, but definitely also fun. At one moment you're laughing at a silly joke and the other moment you are confronted with the harsh reality of school life and all the things that come with that. Not everything is fun and some people at school really show this to you with their actions and also words. Even with your time powers you're sometimes helpless to do something against that, but that doesn't stop Max from doing the right thing. At least if you want her to do the right thing, because you make the choices and that can be something good but also something bad. For example warn a girl so she doesn't a football against her head or do nothing, it's small things like this that bring the game to life. That make this not just a game but an adventure, an experience that is a lot of fun to play and with the different choices it's definitely worth playing this game multiple times! I'm very curious about episode five and see what happens next!
