Looking back at....James Bond Everything or nothing!
After the succes of Goldeneye on the N64 a lot of developers have tried to get close to that succes, often by going for the first person experience like Goldeneye. But Everything or nothing went for the third person shooter experience, but also by making it more like you're playing in a Bond movie instead of just shooting yourself from point A to point B in first person. It's not that you won't be having a lot of shooting ahead of you but there is a story and there is some actual interaction with other characters. What's also cool is that the actor who played Bond (Pierce Brosnan) at that time actually did the voice for the character and some more Hollywood actors gave their voice to some of the characters in the game. That gave Everything or nothing a more movie experience and less of a shooter, but getting back to business it's still you playing as Bond and killing a lot of enemies. So maybe it's not that different?
Bond!
You play as James Bond and you kick ass! Well in a more sophisticated style of course but it still comes down to you killing every person that shoots you or tries to shoot you. In third person it's actually pretty cool, because not only did Pierce Brosnan do the voice for Bond but the Bond character in the game also looks like him which gives you more the idea that you're playing in a Bond game instead of just another third person shooter. The idea is still simple where an insane man is threatening the world and only Bond can stop him, of course with a lovely female companion alongside him. So you do have the feeling that you play as Bond, it's just getting used to the third person perspective.
Succes?
As the title says it's everything or nothing with this Bond title, at least for the developers (Electronic Arts and Visceral Games), because after some less quality Bond games they really wanted to give the fans what they wanted. But that would be Goldeneye 2 and that game wasn't a great succes either, so can you really please the fans? I guess they decided to do something else and came up with the third person shooter experience and made it more a like a movie, which is actually not bad and I must admit that I enjoyed playing this game. Especially after going through some lame Bond games in the past after Goldeneye. This is definitely something new and refreshing in the series of first person shooter Bond games and also fun to play!
Worth checking out.
If you've never played Everything or nothing and you still have a Playstation 2, Xbox or Gamecube then it's a game you might want to get because it's a fun Bond experience. Sure it's no Goldeneye and no the story doesn't blow you away, but as a Bond fan you're in for a good time and eventhough the game isn't that difficult it's still worth to check it out. Especially since the game is now available, if you still know where to get it, for a low price.
