YouTube adventures -78- Is there a future on YouTube?
With things getting harder for existing channels you have to wonder if there is going to be a future for them on YouTube and what about the new channels? How do you survive if YouTube pretty much want you to be super nice and polite, without dropping any bad words in the video and heaven forbid if someone could see a nipple! This really raises a big question...
Is there a future on YouTube for me?
I never planned to get big with my channel, I was already surprised to get some views. Keep in mind that I make low quality videos, so I don't expect people to get super excited for that. But it was nice that I could make all kinds of videos and never really had to censor myself. If I was mad you could hear it, I didn't had to worry about what I was saying and just blurted out the dumbest things. YouTube doesn't like that and so now all the videos are under a watchful eye and the moment your video is considered as not good for YouTube you will be taken down!
Ok that sounds a bit extreme but the truth is that a lot of things aren't tolerated on YouTube anymore and I think that's a bad thing. It really ruins the fun and creativity process. So what if someone says bitch or cock muncher, it's not nice but at least you know that people aren't faking it. Anger is often the most honest people can be with you. I know that some people do fake it but this is often easily recognized considering they are terrible actors. It's not always nice to use certain words and I absolutely agree that we (YouTubers aka content creators) shouldn't say all the bad things that we can say, but the way things are now it's just ridiculous!
It wouldn't surprise me if people with a new channel are wondering if there is a future for them on YouTube. Maybe you make videos where you have no commentary or you're a very polite individual, so you have nothing to worry about. But let's be honest I think a lot of people view videos from people who aren't always that nice or sometimes use these bad words YouTube is trying to protect us from. For example two friends play a game together and one friend is screwing the other friend over. Do you really want that friend that got screwed to say that he is mildly annoyed with that or do you want him to yell at his friend and call him a dickhead? I know which one is funnier for me, but apparently YouTube seems to disagree.
I really hope that this is just a temporarily thing, that eventually things get back to how it was. I'm not saying that it's ok to be a racist or a super offensive asshole on YouTube, but I do think that people should have some freedom in what they say. Put an age restriction on videos, make it so that kids can't see the videos with the bad words or partial nudity. I don't think a kid is ruined if he hears someone say motherfucker or seems a breast, ok maybe he or she shouldn't hear or see that but let's stop pretending as if this is a perfect world. If YouTube keeps this up then it wouldn't surprise me if there will be another website where people upload videos without any childish bullshit tied to it. Let's just hope that things get better and not worse.
