Bungie, Bungie never changes...
Let me first say that I'm not bashing on Destiny 2, it's a fun game and I enjoy playing this game. But unfortunately there are parts that are not so much fun and then there are parts that are just the same stupid bullshit a lot of people already hated in the first Destiny game. So why Bungie, why do you put the same shit in Destiny 2?!!! What am I talking about? Well...
Bungie hates solo players?
It seems that way, just look at Destiny (the first game) and the amount of people that didn't play any of the raids because nobody could find a team to join. I think it was about 50% of the player community that didn't play any of the raids which is a lot! If you wanted to play the raid you had to team up with other people, but Bungie didn't offer any matchmaking with this and you had to do that on your own. Which caused a lot of trouble and a lot of people in comment sections of videos or on websites to ask for help. Something that could've easily been avoided if Bungie just put matchmaking in the game for raids. So it seems that Bungie learned from their mistake and now the raid has matchmaking in Destiny 2, so all is well you might think. Wrong! If you want to play the nightfall strike you once again have to find your own team, for some dumb reason Bungie can't be bothered to put matchmaking in there and just leaves you there confused. I thought we were done with this bullshit but here is Bungie bringing back the same bullshit, now not for raids but for the nightfall. Good job Bungie, it's simply amazing how some people just don't learn a fucking thing from the previous mistakes. But this isn't where the stupidity ends. There are also exotic quests, a quest where you can earn an exotic weapon when you complete it, where you have to team up with others. For example the Rat King quest is a quest where you have to play three patrol missions, two public events, two crucible or strike matches and complete the nightfall with five minutes left while being in a group with other people who are on the same quest as you. Once again the solo player is screwed, because how the hell are you supposed to find other people who are on the same quest and are willing to team up with you? Oh go back to the comment sections and websites and ask for help? Then we're back where we started with Destiny! I thought we were done with this shit Bungie! Why the hell do you put this type of bullshit in a game when you know that a big chunk of the community will have issues with this? It's as if people at Bungie love making things harder for solo players.
Why is this a problem?
Because it's not easy to form a team when most people you meet don't speak or have no intention to team up with you. Which is fine but then Bungie throws this type of bullshit my way and I'm forced to go back and pray other people will want to work with me to complete this. Keep in mind that a lot of players on Xboxlive don't talk, eventhough we all get a microphone when we buy the Xbox One only a very small percentage actually uses it. So try to communicate with someone that doesn't talk, yes quite fascinating isn't it? But this issue isn't just for the Xbox One players, I've seen Playstation and PC gamers with the same issues where they can't find a group to complete the Rat King exotic quest and can't find anyone for the nightfall strike. Bungie could throw you a line here and get rid of the ridiculous having to group up with other people for this quest and just put matchmaking in nightfall but no that won't happen. Somehow Bungie finds it perfectly normal to keep the same dumb bullshit in the sequel, because some people don't mind or actually like it. Yeah sure, but do you know who these people are? People that play with their friends, people that don't have issues teaming up with others. At that point there are no problems, but these are most likely the same people that also played all the raids in Destiny. None of my friends plays Destiny 2, so do I have to force one of them to play the game just so I can complete an exotic quest and get my weekly nightfall bonus? Do I have to go online on my PC and contact strangers in the comment section of a Destiny 2 video or check a website if there are other people with the same issue? No I refuse to do that because this isn't why I bought Destiny 2! I just want to play the game and have fun on my own. If I want to team up I'll let matchmaking do that for me in strikes or the crucible. I tried the whole trying to form a team for months in Destiny, just hoping to find others like me that also want to play a raid. But do you know how many people responded, yeah that's right no one. And now I have to go through the same bullshit just to get an exotic weapon and to be able to play the nightfall strike? You know what Bungie? Go fuck yourself, fix your fucking game or fuck off! I'm sick and tired of this bullshit and I can't stand this lazy behaviour from developers. Somehow you can put matchmaking in the game for strikes but not for the nightfall strike? Honestly if I ever meet the dickhead who came up with that stupidity I want to punch this moron in the face. Yes I'm mad, mostly mad at myself for falling for the same lies that Bungie tells people. Oh now there is matchmaking for the raids but we still keep the same bullshit in the game so you'll still have to find a team on your own for the nightfall and at least one exotic quest. Absolutely hilarious Bungie, great job at screwing over some of your community. Because we love hanging around on websites and comment sections hoping to find other people with the same issue that gets them stuck. Once again I don't hate Destiny 2 but I hate Bungie for putting the same bullshit in the sequel. Thanks Bungie, it becomes real easy for me now to move on to the next game because why put weeks into Destiny 2 when I'm already getting screwed over in the first week. You honestly spared me a lot of time here!
End of rant.
What needs to change?
Isn't that obvious? We need to get matchmaking for the nightfall strike and get rid of having to team up with others in that exotic quest. Just let people play on their own if they want to. Stop forcing people to play together, it really sucks and a lot of people aren't happy with that! If there is something that we need to do with other players then make it so that we can easily team up with others, something that is done by the game and not something that we have to do ourselves. Why put matchmaking int the game for certain things and leave it out for other things? That makes no sense at all! Make the solo player experience better by leaving out the forced having to team up but if there needs to be a team up then make certain that there is matchmaking. This prevents a lot of frustration and people can then decide if they want to do it or not. Now it feels like a lot of people are going to miss out on the nightfall strikes and the Rat King exotic weapon because they can't find or form a team. It's the same problem we had in Destiny and somehow Bungie manages to put it back in Destiny 2. Considering that Bungie never got rid of that bullshit in Destiny it seems like we will keep the same bullshit in Destiny 2. So great job Bungie, such an amazing job make the same mistakes in your sequel. You know the issues you adressed and pretended to fix but in fact you didn't. You pretty much just shifted the problem, which didn't solve anything! If there isn't going to be matchmaking for the nightfall strikes and the exotic Rat King quest remains the way it is then what point is there for me to keep playing? This is just the start and I'm certain that Bungie has more bullshit waiting to be put in the game. So once again solo players are getting screwed and people in their teams get all the stuff. Such a fun experience Bungie. I'm so close to the point where I'm done with the game, because why the fuck would I want to put more time in a game that clearly doesn't like it that I prefer to play on my own? So yeah it seems it's time to move on again, thanks Bungie.
