Are some games actually rewarding you for the time you play in them?
It's nice when a game is fun to play but it's even better when you can get some nice rewards for the time you spend in the game. For example when I look at Fortnite I see a game that gives you very little for the amount of time you put in it. Because if you play the 14 days survival you only get a little, which is ridiculous because that will take you more than four and a half hours to complete! Destiny 2 on the other hand has a high drop rate of legendary and even exotics, which means spending two hours or sometimes even one hour in the game can already get you some good loot. Both games are fun to play but it of course is lame when you get so very little for the time you put in a game. Which makes me wonder, are some games worth the time you put in them?
Some games don't reward you enough for the time you play in them?
A game should be fun to play at first, I totally agree with that, but it's nice that you also get something extra in return for all the hours you have put in the game. So if you played a game for five hours and have nothing to show for it then that sucks, then it truly feels like you're wasting time and I doubt anyone likes that. Sure it's great that the game is fun but that fun will disappear eventually when you keep getting crumbs while you should've gotten a lot more considering the amount of time you put in a game. Now I'm not saying you should get fat loot within ten minutes but looking at Fortnite with the four and a half hour survival mode you just spend an entire evening on one thing and get hardly anything back for it. I don't know about you but that seems totally not worth it to me! I would much rather play a game that gives me more for spending less time in it. It's of course great when a game is fun and that it stays fun but when you keep missing out on loot or other stuff then that fun will turn into something ugly and I doubt you will play it much longer at that point. Maybe it's just me but if a game doesn't reward me in any way then what's the point of playing it after a certain amount of time? I mean you probably finished the story after a week or so and doing repetitive missions can get boring if you're not careful! So getting some nice rewards motivate you to keep going, that keeps things fun and makes it feel like you're actually getting something out of the time you invest in a game. This doesn't mean I expect to get rewards for every ten minutes I spend in the game but it's nice that you can turn off you computer or console at the end of the day and feel good about the things you got. If you feel like you just wasted an evening then that's not good and I bet that it makes you think if you should still play this game.
You can't always get what you want?
That's true, but it sucks if you just don't get anything! I mean I can spend hours if not days in Fortnite and only get a handful of items, most of them being duplicates or things I don't even want. That makes it harder and harder for me to motivate myself to play it again the next day. I would rather play a game that rewards me better or just do anything else with my time that seems more rewarding at that moment. I don't expect to get immediately what I want or to get every item I want, but when after more than two months you still only have two legendary heroes and you're not a fan of either of them then I can understand that you're getting tired of a game. I mean how much patience do you need to get something good from that game? I mean do developers expect people to just keep playing it hoping to eventually get something worth playing for? Maybe some people have that much patience but not me! I don't mind playing a game like Fortnite every now and then but that would be mostly for the log in bonus and completing some daily quests. There is always hope to get something good but with the random loot drops it can be really bad sometimes. Eventhough in Destiny 2 the random loot drops are much better, mostly because you get loot drops a lot more often and a lot of it is good. The grind is way less strong in that game and so far every day has exciting new discoveries or at least something worth the time you put in the game. Maybe that's just me getting lucky but it does show how some games are just more rewarding than other games. I understand that I can't always get what I want but if after two months you still have nothing you're happy with, as in not one hero you enjoy playing as or a trap that is really useful, then you really have to ask yourself why you're still playing that game. I always hope that things will be better and maybe they will be, but sometimes it's better to move on. There are a lot of games out there and you can't play them all at once!
