Things get nerfed in games way too fast?
Whenever you play a multiplayer game you realize quickly how some people like to use certain characters and/or weapons, usually because certain characters are pretty effective in certain situations and the same counts for weapons. People that constantly lose to these type of people will quickly scream that they're overpowered and need to be nerfed, but is that true?
People are the problem?
It's easy how some characters in a game, for example in Overwatch, or certain weapons in a game, for example in CoD or Destiny 2, are considered overpowered because people lose a lot against these characters and weapons. So that means they either use the same character and/or weapon or they will scream for a nerf. But did you know that there are more ways to counter certain characters and weapons? It doesn't always require a nerf, but I guess it's easy to scream for a nerf so you don't have to change your tactics. I know it sucks if the same person keeps killing you with the same character or the same weapon. I've been there and I hate it just as much as you, but instead of typing a rant of how much these people suck or how much the developers suck for putting this in the game I actually look at how I can counter these people. Overwatch I a great game where every character has a counter character, it just takes some time to figure out which works best against a certain character. But when you have so many characters in a game you know that there is always a way to deal with an annoying character. With weapons it can be a bit more difficult, because some weapons are really good but nobody is invulnerable, unless they use cheats, so you should be able to beat them. For example in Destiny 2 a lot of people complain about the Mida Multitool, it is a very effective weapon but I've been it with rapid fire pulse rifles or if you can get close enough with a rapid fire smg. Keep in mind that some people need a heavy crutch to lean on in multiplayer, for them these type of characters or weapons are what they need to be succesful. The moment you learn how to counter these characters and weapons you take away their crutch and they'll fall. The problem with all this is that some people are so lazy that they don't want to learn how to counter or play smart, they would rather go to the website of the game and complain on the forum. Because that's what you do when you're annoyed and don't see another way forward. If developers get a lot of these complaints characters and weapons usually get a nerf and that might be the end of it you think, but then another character or weapon seems to be popular and it all starts again from the beginning. Yeah great fun...
Don't nerf too quickly?
It seems that some developers nerf way too fast in a game. The moment enough people complain about something then it seems that a certain character or weapon will be nerfed. Sometimes that's justified but sometimes it's just people being lazy and not learning how to counter. This ruins the balance in multiplayer and makes things less fun. Of course it's not fun to die all the time to the same character or the same weapon, it definitely sucks if in every match you encounter that annoying character or weapon. But you can learn to counter or learn to work as a team. Especially in a game like Destiny 2 teamwork is now really important and can make even the biggest try hard crash and burn as long as you work as a team! It's easy to get mad and it's easy to ask for a nerf, but honestly if you only play a game for a month or two then asking for a nerf seems a bit selfish to me. I mean you pretty much ask for something that might bother you for a couple of weeks and after that you already move on to the next game. Of course games should be fun and dying constantly to the same character or weapon isn't fun, but try to be reasonable. Yes some people take massive advantage of something in a game, this is how some people are and they will always do this. You can't fix a broken system, so instead of getting mad you can move on to another game if a game really frustrates you that much. It's not fun to play a game that makes you so mad. Asking for a nerf in week one or two of a game seems a bit ridiculous to me. Sometimes patience can be your best friend, unfortunately not everyone wants to be friends with patience for some reason. I don't blame them, patience isn't really my thing either, but there is a time when you can complain and a time that you sit and wait. You can't expect a game to be perfect and that it works exactly right for you. Multiplayer games are made for multiple people, it can't be perfect for just one person. There will always be something you don't like or something that will be overpowered in your eyes. Sometimes you just have to deal with that or move on. It's probably not what you want to hear but honestly you can't expect developers to make the game work exactly the way you want it to be.
