Sinful Sunday: You're such a try hard!
Has anyone ever called you a try hard? It's usually when you're winning and another player is frustrated. It's easy to call someone a try hard but is it really such a bad thing to try and win a match? I mean that's the idea isn't it? Of course it's important to have fun but I think we all want the benefits of winning, which is often more rewards or experience. So maybe being a try hard isn't a bad thing? Or is it?
There's nothing wrong with being a try hard?
I guess it depends on what you call a try hard, because if someone just tries to win by doing his or her best then it's easy to call this person a try hard but he or she is just trying to win. Isn't that what you're doing when you play a multiplayer match? Competitive multiplayer is usually where the most toxic and sad people hang around so don't be surprised if someone calls you a filthy try hard. Oh man you're trying to win the match, that's just so lame! But in my opinion just trying to win a match doesn't actually make you a try hard. I think try hard points more towards people that try to win at all costs, which means using dirty tricks and exploiting broken elements in a game. For example spawn camping, glitched headshots or bringing in a team of friends in multiplayer where you often face random teams. That's not sportsmanship, that's just sad!
Being a try hard is a bad thing?
Usually when someone is frustrated and upset with you they often don't yell compliments at you. So when someone calls you a try hard then they often mean that they don't like the way you play. Are you camping? Are you constantly hiding behind your team mates just to get that high kill streak? Are you in a clan or group of friends playing against a team of random people? Then there is a good chance that the other team isn't going to like you nor respect you. Not that you would automaticly like someone on the other team but if they actually beat you with skill then you could respect that. But when it's hardcore camping, the two or three against one fights (because his or her friends are constantly protecting him or her) or someone is exploiting a flaw in the game then this will get you hate and you will most likely be called a try hard. Perhaps another word would be sweaty nerd, someone who is so desperate to win that apparently everything is permitted and he or she will go to extreme lengths just to secure the victory. This isn't the type of person people want to be friends with, unless your friends are just like you then you probably have no problems with that.
People call you a try hard just because you want to win?
I know from experience that people will call you a try hard just because you won a match. In my experience that doesn't happen a lot and if I can win then that's great, but somehow there is always this person on the other team that considers you as a try hard just because you won from him or her. If you play fair and keep it clean then it's not right that someone is calling you a try hard, it shows their own bad behaviour and refusal of accepting defeat. Some people actually enjoy that, when people get upset and call him or her a try hard. I guess we all handle that on our own way but it's not nice to say bad things to someone just because the person won from you without any bullshit. My advice for you when you play multiplayer, there is always someone else out there that will be better than you in a game. If you can't accept that then you probably shouldn't play multiplayer games and just live in your bubble of ignorance.
