Do you have to complete a game?

Have you ever played a game that you had to complete? Not just completing all quests or missions but also find all the collectibles, win all the mini games and pretty much do everything that you can do in that game. It's extreme but when you really love playing a game then why would you want to stop playing it? Oh right there are other games you also want to play... Can't stop, won't stop? Sometimes certain games can be very addictive, not just because you're having fun but also because you just don't want to stop playing. It's difficult to say farewell to certain games because somehow you know that once you stop playing you might never play that game again. Maybe never isn't the right word, but you probably won't play it again any time soon. So that leaves you with a difficult decision, are you going to keep playing it until you're completely done with the game or stop playing and maybe pick the game up later? It seems simple to just quit for no...

Is this easy mode?

You probably heard D.VA say this several times in Overwatch, but is it really such a bad thing to play on easy mode? Is that something you should hide and be ashamed for because other people would think less of you? I don't think so! Playing on easy mode isn't a bad thing? Actually it's a good thing and even a smart thing to do. What better way to learn a game on the easiest difficulty, when you're in a hurry you can play faster through a game and it's a good way to get achievements/trophies as well because a lot of achievements/trophies will require you to do certain things that are often more difficult to do on a higher difficulty. Which is exaclty why easy mode is the best mode to get achievements/trophies. Sure you won't impress anyone with that and there will be no bragging rights, but does that really matter? I personally don't see the worth in that, because who cares that someone beat the game on the highest difficulty? I beat several games on the...

Movie Monday: Gladiator

Before the whole super hero theme in movies started you had Gladiator, pretty much a (super) hero from ancient times and a movie that just blows you away! Already in the opening scene you see the might of the Romans and of the hero of the movie, Maximus, which is quite impressive. That alone already made me want to watch the movie several times because it's an amazing battle. It was the first time I saw this type of movie in the cinema and it left a big impression on me. What's so special about this movie? At first you might think it's just another revenge movie. A guy gets wronged and this guy goes through tough times to get his revenge, it seems nothing special but if you really watch the movie and see what it is all about then you know that just calling this a revenge movie is dumb. The movie is about honor, friendship, keeping a promise and of course family. The majority of the movie takes place in Rome, in the arena to be exact and that's not a bad thing. It gi...

Sinful Sunday: Games are rigged to fail?

Some people say that in a casino the slot machines and some other things are rigged, if this is true I don't know but it should give you something to think about. Something I've also heard from someone else is that sooner or later you always lose, which means you should take a victory and leave instead of trying your luck further. But what about games? These are probably more reliable and nothing seems to be wrong with those, right? Wrong! Games are rigged to fail? I often say that a game is rigged to fail when there is no chance to win, that no matter what you do you always lose. Even if you win one round you'll lose the next because the game is rigged and because it's rigged you fail. So in short a game is rigged so you will fail, in my words: rigged to fail. Let me give you an example of what I mean. I was playing the Witcher 3 and played the card game Gwent. Normally this would be a game of chance, you randomly get ten cards from your deck of at least 22 unit an...

Romance in games exists?

Do you remember your first game that actually had the option to romance someone in it? For me it was Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, which was some innocent flirting and teasing which could eventually lead to a kiss (that happened when the screen went dark). That already shows how people thought at that time and even now romance or even intimacy in games isn't really accepted by everyone. But is it possible to find it in a game? Not in every game but they do exist! Romance isn't dead? Some people complain that romance is dead, as if it's all about sex now. I don't believe that and I know that romance isn't dead. Some people just don't see the value in romance, while others have a strong craving for romance and it might be the key to the heart of someone you like. In games it's not that different, when you meet someone you like then it's possible (in some games) that you can romance this person. In some games like the Witcher 3 it could be a on...

YouTube adventures part -40- Always stay positive?

When you listen to some people on YouTube they always seem to be positive and polite, at least they don't use curse words or other bad words that aren't accepted by everyone. This often makes me wonder, are these real people or are they robots in disguise? Because who the hell is like that? Maybe it's just me but I doubt that everyone is... Always positive. It really annoys me when I hear people say gee darn or aw shucks in their videos, it makes me feel like I'm a kid watching some lame kid show. These people aren't letting out their real emotions and just try to trick you with some lame ass bullshit. When I'm upset then you'll hear that I'm upset, I'm not trying to hold back but say some dumb and annoying things but that's because I'm really annoyed with someone or something and I'm not trying to be nice at that point. This is real, this isn't some lame attempt to make people think that I'm ok and that everything is fine. It...

Game tip: the Witcher 3

Have you ever played one of the Witcher games? I played the Witcher 2 and I wasn't very happy with it. I guess my need to rush through it and the game taking things slow didn't really mix well and I quickly discarded the game. But then the Witcher 3 came out and I must admit that I was impressed with the game, but I hadn't forgotten about my experience with the Witcher 2 so I decided not to buy it. But now if you're a gold member on Xboxlive you can buy the Witcher 3 for 15 Euros, which is a pretty sweet deal for a good game! Is the Witcher 3 a good game? I took a chance but for 15 Euros I'm willing to take that chance because a game that gets that many good reviews and I heard so many positive comments about this game that I just couldn't ignore that! Perhaps it was still an impulsive purchase but sometimes you have to take a chance and sometimes that actually pays off, in this case it payed off nicely with the Witcher 3 because I'm really enjoying myse...

Are you done with multiplayer (games)?

Last weekend I went through a rough time in Overwatch, nothing serious but just very annoying and frustrating moments that made me want to quit with multiplayer. I got some of the dumbest and most annoying players constantly in my team which absolutely made me want to quit multiplayer, because if this is what multiplayer is turning into then I don't want to play it anymore. But I took a short break and a couple of days later I'm feeling a better, but sometimes there are just moments that you're completely done with people. Have you ever had one of those moments? It's not pleasant, I can tell you that much! What to do when other people frustrate you? The big problem with games like Overwatch is that it's a team game and you can only win if you play as a team. So if you keep going for solo actions or just pretty much screw your team over by refusing to play as your role then you pretty much doom your team to lose. For example people that pick the healer and don...

Final Fantasy XV, so close and yet so far...

It's only a week until Final Fantasy XV will launch and I bet a lot of people can't wait to play it already, but we've reached the last week of waiting so this should be easy considering the amount of years it took for this game to finally (no pun intended) become available. But are you ready for this game? Let's find out! Do you know what you can expect with Final Fantasy XV? Maybe some people deliberately stay ignorant so they can enjoy Final Fantasy XV more, but I personally prefer to get some information so I don't step into a new game blind. Sometimes that's fun, but in a huge game like Final Fantasy XV it's good to have some background information and know what's going on. So in Final Fantasy XV you play as Noctis, the crown prince and only son of the King Regis, and you start the game travelling with your best friends. It's some sort of bachelor party or adventure you could say. But then after some dramatic events back home Noctis returns ...

Movie Monday: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the shadows.

As a kid I was a big fan of the Turtles, I mean seriously these cool looking guys who are ninjas and they can kick ass? Who wouldn't like that? But all good things come to an end and in my country the cartoon was taken off tv and the comic also disappeared, for me it was years until I heard about the Turtles again but I was already an adult at that time and the Turtles had changed a lot. No longer looking as cool as they did in the 80's and 90's, which became even worse in the movie where the Turtles look even more ridiculous. But does that make the Turtles movies bad? Not really, sure this isn't a masterpiece but it's still fun to watch! Bigger, better and more bad ass? Well you can say about this sequel that it looks more impressive, you also see more characters you will recognize from the cartoon and the movie also keeps things fast and doesn't really want to slow down. So in a way you can say, if you like the previous Turtles movie then you'll also l...

Sinful Sunday: Unfair advantage?

Have you ever noticed how some people get more attention with their posts or videos? To be honest I don't really care about that but I can't help but notice to see the same people show up in my Xboxlive feed, as if nobody else posts videos. It makes me wonder if some people have some type of advantage or if this is just some weird coincidence. Does gender play a role? I know that some women have a rough time online, dealing with douchebags that give them shit just for being a woman that plays a game. But then there are these posts I read online that sometimes give me the feeling that women do have an advantage in certain situations. For example a guy posts a message that he's looking for people to play with, he even lists games he wants to play with other people, but nobody responds. A day later a girl posts pretty much a similar message, she also lists games she wants to play with other people and they're similar to the games the guy wants to play with other people...

Overwatch has impossible achievements/trophies?

If you like to earn achievements or trophies then Overwatch might not be the game for you, because this game holds the achievements and trophies behind locked doors and you would need some serious skills or a lot of luck to get them. Ok not all of them are difficult but there are some that are very difficult to get, unless you go into a boosting match but I consider that as cheating. What makes Overwatch achievements/trophies so impossible? It's often that you need to do something that will hardly ever work, that is just too difficult for most people or is completely situational which means you could play a hundred games and still not get the situation you need to get the achievement/trophy. There isn't just one or two of these frustrating achievements/trophies, no there are several of these and new dlc sometimes brings you more of these achievements/trophies that are so annoying to get. Just look at Sombra, her first achievement/trophy is to hit all six players on the enem...

YouTube adventures part -39- technical difficulties

I doubt that most people realize how much work there sometimes goes into making a video. Sure some videos are easily made and I'm not trying to sound like I make such amazing videos, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong and that often starts when you record. These problems are often known as... Technical difficulties. No matter when or where I record there is always something that goes wrong. Sometimes my camera just stops recording for no reason at all. So the last two minutes of the match I was recording aren't recorded, which sucks because sometimes something good happened in those minutes and I take it that people want to see how the match ended. This is really frustrating when you want to record long matches or make a playthrough of a game, because if the camera keeps quitting then there is no point in recording. So it's smarter to record with a capture card, but there are issues with that as well! But things don't going wrong with recording, then ...

Campers are like a disease in games?

Let me immediately say that I mean no disrespect for people that have lost people to deadly disease or people that have a deadly disease. But I think of no better way to explain how much damage campers do in a game and how they completely ruin a game or game mode. Maybe some would think that I'm being too harsh, I must be overreacting because how could anyone be that bad? Well maybe I can explain this to you... Why are campers a bad thing for a game and the people that play that game? Because campers suck out the fun of a game, not only because they completely take the speed out of a game (you would have to check every corner before you can move up) but also it's frustrating that some lazy asshole keeps getting kills and then talks shit as if he or she is amazing at the game. I don't know about you but this is something a lot of people don't like and I'm putting that mildly! So people stop playing that game or that game mode that has a lot of campers in it. Beca...

Overwatch is new and improved?

Yesterday there was a little surprise for Overwatch players, out of nowhere the new dlc became available and that means you got acces to a lot of new things! After a big download, a bit more than 10 GB, you get a a whole new game mode, arcade, a new hero, Sombra, and some new rules in Overwatch. But what does that all mean exactly? Well let's take a closer look! What can Sombra do? I already told you about her a couple of weeks ago, but to see her in action myself I can say that she's not so bad as some people make her out to be. Sure she can be annoying but she's not breaking the game. Her hack is probably one of her most annoying abilities that prevents the person being hacked from using his or her abilities or ultimate. But that doesn't mean that she can stop everything. For example Lucio can still use his speed or health boost, he just can't switch between them as long as he's hacked and McCree can still use his hammer fan so at close range he can still ...

Play your class/role in the game!

One of the most frustrating things in a team based game are people that don't play the class/role they have. So a healer that doesn't heal, a tank that doesn't protect others and a damage dealer that does hardly any damage. That's the type of stuff that makes me very annoyed, because why pick that class/role if you're not going to play it? I guess some people just see things differently or some people are just trolls. Why aren't people doing their job in the game? Well that probably has something to do with how people think and also with how much experience some people have as a certain class/role in the game. The biggest problem or issue with certain teams is that there is no communication, which means that a tank is moving up and expects the healer to follow him or her. But if that healer has other plans and doesn't say anything then it's easy to see how things can go horribly wrong. Then there are also people that don't know how to play as a c...

Movie Monday: Spectre

I grew up with James Bond movies, my father loves these movies so I couldn't escape these movies even if I wanted to. But the thing is that I also like James Bond movies, eventhough they have changed a lot over the years. Not just the actors that play as James Bond but also the movies themselves. In the old movies it was more about spy stuff, but in the latest Bond movies it's more about action and explosions. That's also nice but not really something that screams Bond movie to me. Bond movies are getting more personal? There were some Bond movies that tried to give Bond a more human look, he would fall in love and do anything for the woman he loves but the next movie would have another Bond girl so you never really believed that what they had in the movie was more than just a quick hook up. Ok in the movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service Bond got married but that movie is pretty much the odd one out in the series. But then the Daniel Craig movies started as James B...

Sinful Sunday: You can't handle defeat?

In games it's something you can't escape, becomes sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But also offline you will have moments in your life where you will lose. Maybe you didn't get the job you wanted, didn't win the lottery or maybe the person you voted for didn't win the elections. It's rough but losing is a part of life, because if you would win all the time then your life would be boring. That might sound crazy but you will just have to trust me on that. Why would you accept defeat? The simple answer is that if you don't then you will feel miserable for a long time. Because as long as you hold on to your disappointment and anger you will never move on and so you can't heal and learn to live with what happened. As frustrated as you might be it's important that you don't let anger control you, because then you have truly lost. Instead you stay strong and accept defeat and hope that things go better next time, that makes you stronger and...

Online gaming isn't solo friendly?

It seems that a lot of games expect that we have a lot of friends that play the same games as us, but is that really true? Because I doubt that everyone has friends that play the same games as them, which means that in a lot of these games these people will have to play with strangers. Not that this is a disaster but it kind of sucks when you're forced to play with strangers when you could've done it on your own. Developers want you to play with other people? I can't help but get that feeling sometimes because the moment I go online in a game like GTA V Online I notice how very little I can do on my own. Sure there are things I can do but if you want to make a lot of money then it will always force you to go to public lobbies, to be in a crew with other people and to do certain missions that will require more people to start. This sucks when you have no friends that play this game, because a lot of people aren't friendly in GTA V Online which will often end in you g...

YouTube adventures part -38- There is no modesty among YouTubers?

Sometimes there are YouTubers that just scream attention whore on the thumbnail of their video. Some love to put their face on every thumbnail and then there are also some that already need to brag about their performance in the video. The whole I killed fifty people and only died once title is just sad in my opinion. Maybe there are people out there that want to see some camping sack of shit in a video or a drop shot loser that can't play like the rest of us but I prefer to see a video that makes me laugh, not one that makes me want to turn my computer off. So the question is... Is there still modesty among YouTubers? I'm not going to lie to you, a lot of people that post a video online aren't really in it for the fun of it. Some people like to brag, others just want to get a lot of views for financial reasons and then there are people that post videos to send a message. But where are the people that recorded a great match and stay modest? Where are the people that got...

How do you prepare for Final Fantasy XV?

Final Fantasy XV is coming out at the end of this month, so that means you only have a couple of weeks to get things done in other games and then surrender to an amazing experience in Final Fantasy XV. Which will probably mean that you won't be playing a lot of other games except Final Fantasy XV in December. So how do you prepare for that? Relax and unwind or get as many achievements/trophies as you can? This is a difficult choice for me, I would like to relax and just play games that I enjoy playing but at the same time I also want to boost my gamerscore a bit with some achievements because I get the feeling that will go slow in December. I think the best move you can make is just to relax, play the same you really want to play and have fun with those because once Final Fantasy XV comes out you probably won't be playing other games for quite some time. So right now I try to have as much fun with GTA V Online, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1 and Gears of War 4. This means a lot...

It's easier to buy money than earn money in games?

A lot of developers count on you being lazy or too busy to earn money in games, which is why they offer you to buy some money in the game. This way you get (faster) acces to certain items in the game, that way you don't have to wait till you earn them or until you have earned enough money to buy these items. But is that really the easiest way and is that a smart move? Buying money is dumb? I know that a lot of people spread their hate for having to buy money, but the thing is that nobody has to buy money. This is an option and if you don't want to do that then don't do it! But does that automaticly make someone dumb because they do buy money in a game? I think a lot of people are busy, they don't always have time to spend weeks or months on a game just to get certain items in that game. Even when you do have the time for that do you really want to spend several weeks or even months on one game? I did that with Guild Wars 2, I wanted to earn extra gold to buy more ch...

Mass Effect Andromeda, what happened in the latest trailer?

Have you seen the latest trailer of Mass Effect Andromeda? It shows you more about what you can expect in the game and what actually is going on. Sure it's mostly just flashes and small fragments of cinematics but it already gives you some more information of what you can expect in the game. What is Mass Effect Andromeda? From what I learned it's about seeking out other worlds where people can live far from Earth. Which is why they are on a journey that takes about 600 years, this also makes it a one way trip. Multiple big ships, you could call them arks, carry several different species that are looking for another place to call home. You play as one of the Ryder twins, either as Scott or Sarah Ryder. Something goes wrong when they arrive at their destination and that leaves your character in charge, depending on who your character is that will either be Scott or Sarah. It's then up to you to keep your crew alive and group up with the other ships, since it seems only yo...

Movie Monday: Scream

It's time to talk about a movie that is a bit older, a movie that I really like and made horror movies quite interesting to me. The even older teen slasher movies aren't movies I was interested in as a kid, I thought those were dumb entertainment and had no story only kills in it. But Scream actually showed me that a teen slasher movie can have a story and even humor in it, which makes these movies more fun to watch. But how good is Scream really and should you watch it? Not the same type of teen slasher movie? What I really like about Scream is that it's not your typical teen slasher movie. Sure teenagers will die in this movie and yes the killer is crazy but the killer isn't some supernatural being and can be stopped. This already makes Scream more enjoyable for me, because not only is the killer someone you already met in the movie but there might even be more than one (I won't spoil things for you). What I also like about Scream is that the killer will call ...

Sinful Sunday: Are you a griefer?

There's a reason why I hardly ever play in a public lobby in GTA V Online, mostly because of griefing. It's so lame when you just want to drive around or deliver a car for Simeon and some random douchebag explodes you just because he or she can. I understand that this is something you can do in the game, but does that mean you have to do it all the time? What is a griefer? A griefer is someone that wants to make the life of someone else miserable in a game. For example this guy or girl that keeps following you and killing you, destroying your stuff and just annoys you with other things. There is no real reason other than being an asshole in a game behind griefing. I personally don't understand the fun in that, because it just shows how sad you are if you waste your time on irritating other people. Maybe they make videos out of that and post them on YouTube but then you have to ask yourself what kind of people watch that? Maybe other people that also like to grief? How...

Sombra revealed!

Finally, finally, finally! It took quite some time but we finally know who Sombra is and what she can do. A lot of videos showed up at once on the 4th of November with information about Sombra and also her own video where you see her working with Reaper and Widowmaker. But who is Sombra really and what abilities does she have? Let's find out! Who is Sombra? Sombra is a young woman that learned to hack at a young age and became pretty good at it, she did this for quite some time (ever since she was a little girl) and got away with it most of the time until one time she was noticed. This made her upgrade and had some implants that made her an even better hacker and it also gave her some abilities. From the cinimatic with Reaper and Widowmaker you can say that Sombra is playful, she teases Reaper with opening the door and then closing it right in front of him, but you can also see that Sombra doesn't really follow anyone. She is her own boss and likes to do what she wants. If ...

YouTube adventures part -37- Social skills matter?

A lot of people are nervous to make a YouTube video, mostly because they don't know how people will respond to their video. But is this really something you should worry about? I don't think you need to do that, because either people like your video or they don't like it but it's not like you can change the outcome. Some people also prefer not to speak during their video, they're worried that people might not like the commentary and others are just too shy to say something. So I can't help but wonder... Do you need social skills for making YouTube videos? We're not all gifted with social skills, for some of us it's really awkward to speak in public and to speak to people that might be listening later to your recording. I remember the first time I had to do that for a school assignment, it was so awkward to record myself and then later hear what I said. I sound so different than I first thought and that's probably something you would have to get u...

Buy Battlefield 1, CoD Infinite Warfare or Titanfall 2?

There are so many multiplayer games coming out at once that it's difficult to make a choice and buying all of them might be a bit too expensive for some people so you will probably have to choose which one you want the most. But which one should you buy? Battlefield 1. If you like a classic first person shooter with smooth graphics and instense moments then this might be the game for you! The battles are brutal and you'll most likely die a lot in this game, no matter how hard you try you will die on the battlefield because you're just one of many soldiers. The game might not be very authentic but you do have to deal with weapons that are slow, which makes the gameplay also a bit slow in my opinion. Sure you can jump into a tank or plane and do some serious destruction but it doesn't make you invulnerable. You have a lot of different game modes and a lot to do. There is also no lack of players online so you don't have to worry that Battlefield 1 is going to be em...
