Sinful Sunday: No social skills in online communication?

I'd be one of the last people to say that I'm social, I'm not that eager to talk to strangers and I prefer to keep things short if there is something that needs to be said (for example a callout in multiplayer). But I do try to keep things civilized if possible, because what's the point of being rude or obnoxious?

Not everyone is social?

Well that's not a surprise, not at all actually. Just look at Overwatch and the amount of people that don't say a word the entire match. Which is fine if you're well but if your team is getting destroyed then it's good to communicate so you can better counter the attacks of the other team. Als in the Halloween event, Junkenstein's revenge, it's good to communicate but so far I haven't met one person that actually communicates. I guess most people can't be bothered to plug a microphone in or just don't feel like talking. This is something I understand but if it can mean the difference between winning and losing or getting an achievement or not then it wouldn't be that hard to actually say something.

Microphone plugged in but nobody says something?

This happens a lot too, then you can hear someone cough or make other noises but not one word can be said. I guess some people don't know what they should say and others are probably waiting for someone else to say something. I know the feeling though, for example when I have my microphone plugged in when I'm playing an Overwatch ranked match or playing Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer. It's important to communicate and it can definitely mean the difference between winning and losing. So I have my mic plugged in and I talk but I hear no one else speak, I mean no one says a thing. That makes it feel awkward and after some time you become silent as well when nobody says something or listens to what you say. I can understand when someone doesn't feel like listening, for example when other people are being toxic (they're very negative towards the other players) or when someone is rambling (keeps talking nonsense that doesn't help anyone in the match), but it's important to talk in certain games because it sucks when you lose to another team just because people on your team couldn't be bothered to talk.

Nobody talks online?

It's not that bad, sometimes there are people that seem to be a bit too certain of themselves. Not only do they talk as if they're God's greatest gift but some of them are also obnoxious when they burp into the microphone or I've even heard one guy masturbating which is something you never want to hear! The problem is that you can't pick the people with whom you play games when you enter a match as a random player, which means that the other people could be anyone and sometimes they're people you get along with and sometimes they're people you don't get along with. But if no one ever says anything you probably will never find out if the other people in the team are nice or not. Which means you can miss out on making some friends, eventhough that might not be your main objective when you play games it's a nice bonus when you meet other friendly people with whom you can play games!
