Battlefield 1 (campaign)
When I play a new game that has both a campaign and multiplayer then I prefer to first play the campaign, because multiplayer is more fun to play after the campaign instead of first playing some multiplayer matches and then diving into the campaign. I know some people don't even bother playing the campaign in some games but I can really recommend playing the campaign in Battlefield 1 because it's pretty good!
More than just one story?
The campaign exists out of different stories told by different people during World War I. Immediately from the start you dive into the madness of a relentless attack by the Germans and you playing as members of the Harlem Hellfighters have to give everything to stop them. Not only does this show a realistic view on the war, it also shows you how insane and horrifying it must have been. Each campaign chapter takes you to another time and place in the war, so expect to travel in a tank through France and flying in the sky as a pilot and sneaking around at night taking down commanders in Arabia. You play in each chapter as a different person, this might be a bit weird at first but actually is a good thing in my opinion. Some of the stories are really good and others are really sad, but they're all part of the same war and that makes them a lot more realistic than some random first person shooter.
Battlefield 1 campaign isn't realistic?
At certain moments it is, but then there are moments where I can see the game clearly for what it is. It's you against the rest and you will notice that several times in the game. Sometimes you move up with a lot of other soldiers and then there are moments where it's just you against everyone else. For example you have to beat a lot of tanks just with one tank and that isn't realistic, the same counts for you storming a fortress on your own and capturing it. These moments don't look realistic to me but they're fun gameplay and you have to keep that in mind as well. Because a game that is super realistic but not that fun to play isn't a good thing! You should keep in mind that you can get killed very quickly if you're not careful, especially on hard mode you discover how fragile you are and how easily you can get yourself killed.
Is it worth playing the campaign?
Absolutely! Not only is it a lot of fun you also learn a lot of the controls. For example I learned to fly planes, while in the beta I would crash several times I can now actually fly around and get kills on flying and ground enemies. I also learned to handle a tank better and I finally got a chance to play as one of the elite classes, in on campaign chapter you play as an elite class, which is a lot of fun! If that isn't enough reason for you to play the campaign then there are also some nice achievements/trophies you can earn, not just with collectibles but also just finishing chapters and doing certain actions in the campaign. For example kill all three commanders with melee kills, get ten melee kills in the campaign and find a French cavalry sword and get a kill with it. So you should check out the campaign, it's really good and a lot of fun to play!
